This is not not what Im talking about with the motorola modem. Whenever you switch devices whether it be pc, router or PS3 you need to be properly power cycle this modem as it will wipe the learned mac address that is stored in the modem. This then forces the modem to learn a new mac address. The motorola modem will only assign this learned mac address an IP. If you dont properly power cycle the modem and it still has the PC's mac when trying to connect the PS3 it wont give it an IP.

Mac addressing is great security, especially over wireless! (yes I know this one is a wired connection).
