hey smicky, it is a standard motorola modem, SB5101i from optus. there is a bar code sticker on the bottom and says on one line "USB CPE MAC ID: 0016B52A####"

generally whenever I try to hook the ps3 up I unplug the modem power cable, swap connectors, and replug in the power cable so am letting it cycle but maybe I'm not leaving it long enough.

You should still have my phone number in messages unless it is deleted so if you want to meet up somewhere I am more than happy to.

Thanks for your help so far

Thanks Raven. Will try that tonight if I get the chance. I do take the cable out of the back of it but normally had the ps3 power turned on but not switched on when connecting the ethernet cable and then reconnecting the power.

Will let you know.

5 years working for Optusnet, this fixed 3/4 of all issues. The motorola modem is such a simple device!

1 of 5 it didnt click you are in Blacktown, if your still having issues PM me and could maybe give you a hand with setting up a router. Got my Linksys router the other month for $50. Been rock solid ever since

Yeah mate, most modems and even routers need this to be done every so often...

Even when I was working with Fairfax years ago, in server rooms the size of most peoples houses we would need to power cycle every so often, doesnt matter how big and expensive the gear is!

Even with some choice modems and routers I have here we need to do it as well...

Hence when 1 of 5 said turning it off and plugging it in worked, I mentioned to do a proper power cycle!

BTW- good pick on the linksys router... Good bit of gear Linksys!!! :spit:

just make sure you update the firmware if there is a newer version....

Hey yall, pc gamer from way back. My faves at the moment are Fallout 3 (awesome), TF2, Dead Space (scary sh!T!) and have got Left 4 Dead, but haven't really played it yet. I think TF2 is the most fun game ever created, with the exception of Duke Nukem on N64 hehehe. Also a big fan of the half life franchise...OH and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 1 and 2 as well.....hmmm that's it for the moment
