OK lads, I'm starting to get a bucket load of emails daily and because I am often up and about I would like to recieve them on my mobile. My current phone (LG U990 Viewty) probably will be no good, so I'm looking for a new one that supports Email and also has the Multimedia features I'm used to.

I'm with 3 mobile and I'm happy with their mobile service, so I want to stay there. They have a couple of options:

Nokia E71

Motorola Q9

What are your impressions of these - do you know much about them? ( I'm guessing Smicky will have some knowledge here)

Cheers

Pat

The Samsung isnt to bad, hard to get, and problem is typing on a touch screen if you dont have the other access's on hand...

but I would say look at a Palm T750 or Pro (also hard to get at the moment)... Had ordered mine from our suppliers, only to cancel the order after a 6 week wait on BO... just waiting to see the first shipment of non telstra branded handset to land, then will look to re-order again.

They are WM6 OS'ed and ever so easy because of the keyboard layout and way the handset was been designed...

HUGE FAN OF PALM - I actually use to run the distribution channel here in Oz for Palm (sole disty), Sony Ericsson, O2 (when it was around but now gone), and a few others...

If its a work thing get what you can through the network, otherwise if its a personal handset its worth considering buying it outright... Cheaper (TCO) and you can change your plan details to suit without netwrok provider contract breaking fees if you have not used mobile email/data before...

I have a HTC TytnII on 3, pretty happy with that. It has a touch screen and keyboard (hidden under the screen) so you get the best of both worlds.

I've seen the new HTC touch is more like the Samsung/iPhone to operate and still has the keyboard hidden under the screen. The keyboard feature really is a great time saver, way better than using the touch screen.

:fool:

Anything that you get - consider it to have a keyboard... That is if your planning on actually typing any emails longer then an SMS...

Touch screen (based keyboards) are simply not practical for writting emails, and depending on the technology use for the touch screen (pressure or heat sensitive) you can find it wont work all that well in cold or moist temps (heat sensitive)...

I'm using a Imate Jasjam at the moment (same as the HTC Tytn) only cos my Palm t750 was lost, and ive been hanging out for a Palm Pro... I also carry a LG Prada (dont ask) phone for my other number, which is a heat sensitive touch, and after a little over 10 months ITS STUFFED!!!

I believe the samsung is a pressure sensitive screen which means you will be fine - however there still isnt any keyboard!

FYI - Imate, O2, Palm, and many many others are actually built by HTC. Palm are the only ones (that I remember off the top of my head) that design the handsets rather then just rebranding as Imate etc do... Hence Palm are different in their own right!

Leaning towards the Nokia, just for its multimedia functions and availability on a 3 plan. The cost of outlaying the $$$ for a unit then having to get onto a 3 plan seems backwards. 3 is good for me and I have a few family members/friends on 3 so I get free calls to them

Thanks for your help guys
