Just Got A Tune By The Best Tuner In Sydney....

And let the controversy begin.

After ringing over 20 tuners in Sydney and receiving quotes from $800 to $3000 for an X-Cal 2 Tune, and comments from "It'll take an hour" to "I need you to sign a release form so I can drive it on the road and get the tune finished up properly".. I eventually ended settling on someone who a lot of my import owning friends have used to tune their cars.

Yavuz from Unigroup Engineering.

It was nice to get a straight no bullsh*t no marketing strategy answer, unfortunately in the tuning game I found some places quoting as high as 300rwkw with just a flash tuner, which I knew was unrealistic..

After a brief chat, Yavuz seemed to think we could get maybe 240-260kw out of the car..

I took it down there this morning and the car reeled off a baseline run as 233.4rwkw. This was with a K&N Filter, F6 Lower Airbox, and the centre muffler removed.

After a few hours the car was ready to go, and my god what a different machine.

272rwkw, fuel consumption is 4.5L/100km lower than what it was (I do 200-250k's a day freeway/city driving), but the midrange is just astounding.

Unfortunately the injectors are getting near 90% up the top end, so I'll have to get them replaced to hold more boost through the range.

After 133km of driving, including 2 mates giving the car a fang.

I love it, massive power, these cars are weapons!

Nice power, it smashes the boost pretty hard straight up...

Yeah, ideally it'd hit 15 and hold it

15psi by 3000rpm isn't unreasonable on this size engine / turbo, I have friends with SR20's that are on higher boost by then.

Oh I know, mine hits 18psi around the same time, I was more referring to how much boost it needs to hit 272rwkw - you may find that there is some valve float in the higher end.

Was your 234rwkw run on the stock tune?

No issues with valve float.. The car made 289kw at one stage, but was backed off for safetys sake.

234rwkw was dead stock, just with the centre muffler and the intake done, straight off the road onto the dyno for a run with a tank of 98.

Pretty impressive baseline!

Yeah, it had hit 208kw previously with an NA Intake snorkel (dont ask), a dirty panel filter, and the exhaust standard on 91RON fuel on a different dyno, so Im pretty happy with it

Drive in Drive out was $1500, I paid a little more beucase I didn't have the time to source the X-Cal and got them to do it for me and get it shipped quickly (this was a last minute idea)
