yeah I know it sounds crazy. I can afford to buy it but just have to watch the spending abit at the mo! Plus I live in NZ and both price and availability of parts is less favourable than in OZ. I have a go and let you guys know what the results are.......but I have been thinking about it and would the colder and slightly force fed air the snorkel may provide really make any difference given the air will be pressurised and heated by the turbo and then cooled again after passing through the intercooler??? hmmmmm. This may be off topic as well but why have ford designed the intake/tubro set up the way they have. It seems to me kits like the process west one are far more logical. ie the air filter should be where the battery is on the turbo side and the throttle body should be foward facing. surely this is more efficent and even cheaper for ford to manafacture(which so much of their decisions would be based on?!)

just went for a drive after cutting the hole in the airbox for the F6 snorkle. Seems to be quite a good improvement actually, can feel the turbo come on stronger and a little earlier. Just to note while I was out on the open road I checked the instant fuel consumption which was in the low 8's/100km at 100kph. im not putting it down to the airbox but I thought it was good all the same (have only ever checked it once before)

im pretty sure they are the same part at least they are on the ford parts system

and the reason they are better is the area around your headlight where the snorkel sits is a low pressure zone areodynamicaly so there is very little turbulance and therefore the air passes right into the snorkel mouth instead of comming in and getting "sloshed around" before trying to enter into the airbox

just having a hole wont give as good a result and you will be sucking in more warm engine bay air

also if you dont alread have one get yourself a K&N filter or similar when dollars permit makes a huge difference too :spoton:

From memory I don't think you can use the XR8 snorkel on an I6 airbox.

The XR8 snorkel is rounded where it attaches to the airbox and the I6 airbox is flat.

Right you are - for a BA

im pretty sure they are the same part at least they are on the ford parts system

Right you are - for a BF
