Just want to know if im gona get a custom exhaust made up what should I get? ive seen some people get a 4inch dump and some get a 3.5inch dump with a seperate wategate pipe which is better? whats the difference? also is 5inch cat the best option? 3.5inch single pipe the rest of the way? What is the best metal to use? would this be an ideal exhaust for mid 300s?

my ute has a very good exhaust system, here is a run down.

4" dump pipe off turbo, mild steel ceramic coated (keeps heat down a lot compared to stainless)

external wastegate plumbed back (equivalent to seperate wastegate pipe on an internal gate housing)

4"into 5" body hurricane metal cat

3.5" 304 stainless 2.0mm wall mandrell bent system all the way

2x magnaflow straight through mufflers, one is offset which is better for noise suppression.

It sounds tough and will last longer than the car.

Cheap chinese stainless exhausts sound tinny and are very thin 1.2mm wall thickness, imo they wont last very long at all.

Yep Im with Leigh,

Mines got a long 4inch dump into 5inch cat, 3.5 to the rear, and one Hooker 4inch straight through muff... it sounds nuts :)

I made it all from mild steel, Im not fussed about getting too many years from it as I wont have it that long... but stainless is the way to go for lasting a long time.

Its a pretty big debate that one, kinda like the BOV vs No BOV debate

The general consensus is the the 3.5" split dump is better for response, but the 4" will give you better top end and ultimately more power potential - I'm going 4" on mine

Pat nailed it on the head... 3.5" split dump is better low down whereas 4" is better for top end :innocent:

I've got a SMB 4" dump, 5" bodied cat & 4" cat back system on my sedan in stainless. Sounds horn & produced the performance I was after.
