Hi,

im a newbie so first off I'll say hi and how is everyone.

I love XR6T's and I wanna get one but I don't know alot about cars and don't wanna get a dodgy deal.

I was looking at getting this one http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/FORD/F...0.aspx?State=SA

He's done a few things to it and im not sure if that means he's thrashed it abit, does anyone know this car from here????

Also just some adivce in general about a price I can expect to pay, not for this particular car but in general and anything that can go wrong with them that I should look out for when buying one.

I'm only 19 and this would have to be one of the biggest decision's I've made in my life and I don't wanna screw it up lol.

thanx in advance for your advice and time.

I don't know that it's thrashed I'm just assuming the worst....

I only know what's on that link I attached in my first post.

I've wanted one for ages and this is a good price and is looking good and has stuff I wanna do to mine already done, such as the premium sound and spoiler removed.

I would say keep looking around,, there always gonna be a bargain hidden somewhere..

my best advise it to go check the car out and test drive it in person and with someone who knows there way around cars (eg. mechanic)..

the car in the link does look good though,, just needs to be lowered

thanx for the advice, I just called the guy and im going to arrange to give it a test drive and want to get it looked at I read on another topic about RAC check, what's that??(sorry if it's a stupid question) Is there anything I can get done to test the turbo.

My pop use to be a mechanic, but he's retired and I don't really like asking him because he's getting too old for these sort's of things. my brother has a VL Turbo and when pop works on that it hurts his back.

When I spoke to the guy he said he's selling it cause he has a business and needs the money more. he did tell me about a prang he had with a lady and her tow bar that damaged the front bumper intercooler and condenser but said he had all new ford parts put in.

First impressions he seemed like a decent guy and that he was telling the truth.

people can ALWAYS make an excuse to sell a car,, eg. going overseas/no room for it ect ect..

but you never know,, he may be genuine..

here in Melb a RACV test consists of 2 types,, 1 just a standard checkover and the good one a trip to there workshop which involes putting it on a hoist..

while test driving it,, listen for strange noises/winds/clunks

okay, thanx for your help.

I'll be sure to let you know how I go.

I have plans for it so I'll no doubt be seeking more advice later on regarding an exhaust, engine mods.

As said above... There are many excuses, and some people are VERY good at bending the truth... My advice is to not trust the seller, and get it checked out by a mechanic... Just remember the guy is trying to sell his car and would say nearly anything!
