I turn TC as soon as I get into the car. It's set at very low levels in my car, so if I put down the foot a little too heavy, even in 3rd on a ramp entering a free-way it will kick in, and yet with it off I don't have a problem with losing traction.

I also find that when it kicks in it does so violently and unexpectedly that it’s nearly caused me to lose control of the car, especially when I’m going around a slight corner.

Of course when I am accelerating quickly (especially on a on ramp) I’m trying to get up to speed to merge in with traffic, so having all my power go out the window, even for a split second, is not a safe thing.

:funnydance: exactly how I feel with mine I hate traction control, and always have it switched off, if I could pull it out completely I would, its more of a danger than it is good in my eyes, and it cuts in at the most inconvenient times in any gear even over different road surfaces... personally I use my steering wheel and throttle to keep my car going where I want it, I dont need t/c telling me what to do... its like a bad backseat driver pulling the handbrake on you.

I usually leave mine on purely because the dash light is more annoying than the TC intervention....unless I'm engaging in spirited driving.

DSC - Was never in any of the FPV's as far as I know....

As for TC - mine stays on most of the time, cos I just don think about turning it off... it does kick in a little to easily I feel, and seems to be rather violent...

In fact - there was a situation where I almost lost the car due to TC IMO... I was exiting a down ramp in a car park, there was a bit of water flow in the gutter from the rain, as I drove over the lip of the driveway/gutter and turned, normal level of pedal as the car was heading up a slight hill the back end just got all nervous and sent me back into facing the gutter and a power poll!

Not a happy few seconds... considering the car was less then a month old!!!

It has also stepped out in the M2 tunnel and the harbor tunnel a few times over taking on the exit side... once came all to close to the wall in the harbor tunnel...

I'm wondering if its just me and my car but every time it kicks in it seems to be actually sending the drivers side back end to over correct as if it wants to drift... Cant be normal???? Especially at speeds like 70k's in the tunnels (yes it was wet and raining those times as well)... :funnydance:

Personally prefer to control the car myself... but I do understand the intention and safety purpose for those that are not sure what to do in the event where TC would kick in to assist...

I just feel like Im fighting with it when it kicks in!!!

This is in fact and has been the long the case with ABS, where the driver fears the violent shuddering motion and backs off the application of braking in turn extending there stopping distance. The very same is likely to occur with T/C. It must change something in the dynamics of the car to work and this appears to be well miss-understood as ABS is.

Though, not supported by the burnout community.

ABS is great in the right conditions, however under some circumstances actually becomes more of a danger than a safety feature. I think that comparing it to T/C is just stupid, ABS will only engage during hard braking, whereas T/C will try and take over just about whenever it feels like it.

ABS doesnt brake CV's & other driveline components, TC does.

Ask some of the manual drivers out there.

You just cant compare them as safety features. The violent shuddering is only felt through the pedal on ABS & most of us got used to that over a decade ago.

TC is a totally different story, having the car cut power & shuddering at the same time while trying to merge into traffic aint fun or safe.

And its got nothing to do with burnouts either.

In which conditions is ABS a danger?? The only negative ive ever heard is that skilled drivers are able to stop in a shorter distance then the ABS system using a type of braking method.

abs is useless on dirt roads.. (not that, that will affect your everyday city driver) but I dont have a problem with abs however its the trac control that sh*ts me

and that braking method your reffering is easy as, and can be used with the abs to shorten it up the same...
