Just throwing it out there in case anybody has had similar issues wih their T. I have a BA Manual ute and its symptoms are. Takes full throttle in 1st gear but has slight miss up top, then change to second and it feels as if the turbo has fallen off it. Makes low boost as the bov still vents. If I drive normally through first and second and then put the foot into it it starts to make boost then flattens off after 2500 - 3000 rpm and stops pulling. Only takes throttle if you wind it on extremely slowly.

Have replaced plugs and gapped them correctly, Coil Packs and Fuel pump. Still problem persists.

Any help from people that HAVE HAD similar trouble would be appreciated.

sounds like not enough air or maybe injectors are stuffed, what mods have you done? if it has been worked then maybe its surging

Just went for another drive then and it seemed to have a delayed reaction to throttle, and when it comes on boost its like it has a huge restriction. It has no catalytic converter and the exhaust note is clear an not muffled. It is almost like a surge but it has plenty of fuel and a new pump, and surges are are usually around hard corners, up hills or hard straight line accel where the cannister runs dry of fuel, and do not occur every single time you bring the car on boost. This is just weird and pissing me off because I have replaced the coil packs, plugs and pump, just to have it run the same. A Data Log file seems the only way to know whats going on, if only I could see manifold pressure, timing, lambda and throttle position I could diagnose the problem myself.

done the fuel filter? have also heard that resetting the throttle position sensor by cranking it over with the accelorator flat to the boards helps sometimes(car wont start with it flat)

I am having the same sort of issue. I tightened my pipes and cleaned my Throttle body and since then its been playing up so I checked my throttle body and its no longer spring loaded. so I am buying a new one if you take pipes off check your Throttle body and tell me if its spring loaded.
