Just wanted to work out. Can Boost levels be controlled by an edit... (ie. can it be set to 16psi using a capa flash???)

I assumed this is how it was done, as I have two tunes on my box, 13psi and 16psi... So it MUST be controllable by an edit???

I thought this was how it was done, but someone who was working on my car today thought you had to control it manually... ie. a boost switch.

Can someone please clarify???

I have a street ford mag, which is based on turbos, but it says in there that they couldn't control boost via a manual boots controller, as the Ford Computer stops you from winding up the boost... Basically doesn't allow enough fuel for higher boost..???

no no no it needs to be done through the flash tune

manual boost control can work to a degree but if the ecu hasn't been programmed to deal with those boost levels you will have nothing but dramas or a dead car

that's what I said... You cant use a manual boost control... and it must be done through the ECU... :-)

yeh things like the e-boost work but the car needs to be tuned to the maximum boost levels then you can dial the boost back with the e-boost controller and the car will take it

I'm sure I just read that someone on here has a manual boost T bar thingy and runs around 15psi normally and 23psi for drag. Obviously ecu tuning is required but he says it works great and at $100 for the manual control that cheap.

that's right as long as it has been tuned to the max boost first via Edit , you can run at lower boost than max via a manual boost controller.

I have run a manual boost controller/bleed valve, $50 from supercrap. must be used with the edit.

I used mine to pull back the power on a 100% everything max generic tune.

worm if you get a bleed valve you will be able to reduce your boost level without reflashing, mabee even find a happy point between wheelspin and back in seat power.
