Disk Combination

I have been blessed with the dreaded brake shudder and it’s bad it’s gotten to the point where as soon as it heats up you can feel the constant shudder in the stearing and through the brake pedal when you apply it, I have shaved the front disks it was good for a few weeks then it started to come back, then I decided to change the front disk with some cheap ones (biggest mistake of my life) the shudder not only didn’t go away but came back worse (before I only got it going at high speeds). So now I’m deciding what disk combination I should use, I was thinking going DBA 4000 Slotted at the front and DBA 4000 Standard at the rears or should I stop being a tight a$$ and get all 4 slotted I don’t take it out on the track but I am a heavy braker what do you guys think?

The slotters on the front will be good, the normal ones on the back should do the job just fine mate.

P.S. wanna buy a full stop? :spit:

I got the same problem as you joey, I have some DBA slotted on their way at the moment for the fronts but just not sure if it is worth the out lay of new slotted discs for the back or just get plain ones.

that's right, the disks are too soft standard and they don't have adequate venting to get rid of the heat. The DBAs have a better venting design and also the slots help to get rid of gas that builds up between the pad and disc

Im in support of the DBA reccomendations above and you have the right idea. If your going for the slotted for the front then you may as well get slotted on the back, as there wont be much $$$ in it. Ive done both front and rear this year and couldnt rate them enough, but with upgraded discs also come an upgraded pad. So also start thinking about changing the pads. Ferodo, EBC, Bendix whatever. But to change the rotors means a change in pads.

The outlay of cash for all this, is significantly worth it, in terms of far better braking and longevity of this type of setup.

I've had slotted DBA4000 all round with bendix pads for about 25K now. No more shudder and much better pedal feel (changed to braided lines as well). Pads will be due to change in another 5K or so. Still get a bit of brake squeal but had that with the Ford setup anyway. Less brake dust also. Good value upgrade.
