Well I did the boost solenoid maintenance and I have the boost coming on a bit earlier.

However it has not solved the issue I have had for a few years which I havent been able to resolve. The mechanics (mainly of the Ford variety) say "she drives like a beauty", nothing wrong.

Here is the problem:

Regardless of air temp or humidity, about 7 out of 10 flat out runs feature sluggish performance up to around 4500 - 5000 rpm at which point its like a switch is flicked and I get more boost up to the limiter. Other times it hauls hard the whole way thru.

The reason I have taken it to the dealers is because they are supposed to have all the computers etc to see what is going in.

So has anyone here got any idea what might be going on?

Tell them to make sure your boost solenoid hoses are going to the correct spots on turbo wastegate actuator and pressure fitting. They have been known to be put on back to front and is a common ford problem.

Bit of a grave dig here , a search landed me here. I've had my turbo off to change actuators but I didn't note which hose went to where on the boost solenoid.
Does the hose pointing up on the solenoid go to actuator or to the turbo nipple?
