Also what do they do to get the power gain? More agressive timing and fuel map? Also does anyone know what the difference was between MKI and MKII of the N/A Ute BA series? From what I have heard the factory tune makes them run a little rich, basically for the wost case senario. When they tune the car they run it a little more lean etc. They basically edit your air fuel ratio along with other things and get it all to compliment any mods you may have. From what I understand you could see results anywhere form 15-20rwkWs.If your just looking at a straight out of the box generic tune, don't be suprised if you get 6rwkW. Its obviously better for an NA to get a custom tune, but it is a fair bit more expensive.I am no expert, but from what I have found this seems to be the case.Cheers,Brett. Guest Guests Posted 08/12/08 06:16 AM Share Posted 08/12/08 06:16 AM A little over $8k got me 400+rwkw in a Phoon Basically Azzman, they play with you fuel & ignition maps (along with others obviously) to make your car run a little leaner than the factory tune, thus making more power. You'll never get the gains of a T with flash tuning but it is a significant power upgrade & also betters economy. To tune a car well it needs a dyno to safely take it to high speeds . The more mods done to the car the more it will benefit from a tune. If your car is running too rich or too lean these can be rectified .the result should be more acceleration and a few more killowatts up top. On the street you should be able to beat most xr6t's off the mark to say 60 kays provided they dont spool up first. The reason for this is that the na ford has higher compression than the xr6t 10.5 :1 as opposed to around 8:1 on turbo cars. Until their boost comes in youre in front. Most of all have fun and enjoy the car. 400 rwkws is great for the track but it is power that needs to be respected or it can quickly turn bad. There are alot of nice guys on this forum but some are quick to belittle the na six. Just remember one other thing..if you modify your ba in na form it will make more power than the xr6t's once boosted. It will need less boost and produce more power.Cheers and most all have funStav Edited 09/12/08 06:08 AM by useless Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/51849-flash-tune/#findComment-783329 Share on other sites
