I have a BA MKII 2005 XR6 T 240kw not modified. Since june of this year I have encountered a Throttle Interruption problem that occurrs without warning and with no common reason. Cold running, after 1hr of normal running, on a freeway, in the back streets. The only one aspect I can think as being common is excellerating but not hard excelleration. Ford have replace the Throttle Position sensor on both sides Pedal and engine and as of last week replaced the engine management unit. All under warranty thank goodness!!! It is still doing it. My local dealer has now run out of ideas. They can see the error codes in the "Black Box" but can't isolate the cause. Has anyone else had this problem and are able to share the solution. I have also had a new gear box Auto as well in Jan of 08. You might think I have a lemon but I still love the car. Luckily all of this work has been under warranty.

Any advice welcome

Holy crap, is there anything on the car that is the original!? :spoton: can't believe they replaced the engine!!!

as mentioned above, are you able to give us any further insight as to what exactly you mean y 'interruption'? ie: is it not holding boost? or is it surging? or is there a traction control light coming on?

Thanks for the interest in my problem

According to the Manual it is called Throttle (acceleration system) fault indicator.

There is a little engine symbol that appears on the dash. At this point the engine shuts down and according to ford goes into a Guard Mode. I have no power at this point, (not much fun as you turn into oncomming traffic). It feels like the engine is running on two cylinders. To correct the problem, I turn the engine off and can restart immediatley and a way I go.

As per my post I am at a loss to understand what the problem is and I don't thing the ford dealer has any ideas at this point. Any ideas welcome.

Methinks Ford needs to pull out the centre console and replace it or more likely send it to Melbourne for repairs. Its not your throttle but a computer problem. This can cause the guard mode to cut in and funnily enough give false codes.

I say start again, did you buy it off a dealer or private?

My car was doing the same thing, but it was the TPS, once it was changed the problem was fixed..

It's probably worth getting ford to try another TPS as it may have just been a bad batch, and you were lucky enough to get 2 duds..

If it's not that, it'd have to be something to do with wiring if it's picking up a fault and the sensors are all functioning properly..

Good luck with the diagnosis
