Direct injection will surely take care of any losses, as will tightening up their mixture tolerances. Also, the V8s will be in the same boat. But, Ford Australia has to survive til 2010 yet. Lighter but I still like the cast iron one.I thought I was going to have a clasic on my hand with this model being the last inline 6 - guess I'll just have to upgrade one more time - damn

Usually making the engine more efficent results in more power, unless you are Expensive Daewoo and your piece of sh*t V6 losses power when you go for Euro 3 and just recently Euro 4, 5kw down both times. The current VE V6 actually makes less power now than when it was released in the VZ.The decision was good news, Detroit can shove the V6 up their arse, about time Ford Australia started looking after their own after they keep denying us an export market. F*** you Detroit.Looks like another smart move from Tom Gorman to use the V6, then they figure out it will cost more to fit it, and get it past crash testing than it would to upgrade the I6. Worst president the company has ever had, no wonder he jumped before he was pushed, the company was in a good postition when uncle Geoff left and within a few years it was in deep sh*t. What a loser.
