Premier Anna Bligh said the A1 Grand Prix series would join the V8 Supercars to make up next year's event. She said the Government had reached a five-year in-principle agreement with A1GP and expected negotiations to be completed in the next week. The A1GP is based on teams formed by nationality rather than their car's manufacturer. More than 20 nations compete in the race. The Government's deal with Indy officials fell apart when the IRL wanted to shift the event from October to March. It also demanded the Government pay an extra $3 million a year. Queensland Sport Minister Judy Spence said: "Moving our race to March as they requested was not an option due to the clash with the F1 Grand Prix in Melbourne and the Clipsal V8 race in Adelaide."I dunno how keen I am to see the A1GP as I made the trek to adult schoolies every October from 1993 to 2005. I got interested in the series when my driver Nigel Mansell moved over to Indy from F1.There will be a different atmospshere as the Indy's were unique. The A1 crowd is more like an F1 crowd, as you said Zapper, Indy is unique
