Ghosti NOT THERE!... THERE! Member 852 Member For: 16y 10m 2d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 13/11/08 06:52 AM Share Posted 13/11/08 06:52 AM (edited) Had this same dilemma a while ago...Bear in mind that before I bought this car in April, I knew sweet FA about modding cars and to be honest, had very little interest in it.Anyway, I became a member on here and figured out that life starts after an edit. So, got a tune but injectors were maxed out (although I should mention, Mick@Pit Lane tuned it with this in mind so rather than it being lean and dangerous, it's sitting safely around the ~240rwkw mark with clean AFRs ).So of course, a month later the modding itch starts again... Just a cheapy this time, removed the centre muff for a little extra noise.Fast forward another month and I'm thinking it's time for more power but I was worried about the gearbox because if I pop that... the car will be off the road for weeks/months while I come up with the $$$ for a rebuild. Then along came the injector group buy and one of RAP1D's Performer kits (they're both on their way) and before I knew it, I must've thrown caution to the wind without realising... Now what do you think I was doing all day today at work??Trying to find the best price on a 3.5inch Metalcat and a Walbro GSS34* while I mull over whether or not I should aim for the mighty triple tonne and test my luck! WTF have I become!? I blame you all! (in a good way).Seriously though, you have to ask yourself this; If something blows, be it engine, turbo or trans, what would you do?I sure as hell couldn't just shell out to have it fixed on the same day. It'd be weeks of downtime. BUT! I have my girlfriend's cousin's '92 pulsar sitting in my driveway that we use to take the dogs to the beach in and if worst came to worst... I'd be rollin' deep in that badboy while I saved fuel money for repairs to the T lol.You hear it a thousand times "You play, you pay".And I'm comfortable with that. I've made my bed, let's just hope I don't have to sleep in it hahaha! Edited 13/11/08 06:55 AM by Ghosti

XRSCAR Member 414 Member For: 17y 15d Gender: Male Location: FTG, Victoria Posted 13/11/08 08:55 AM Share Posted 13/11/08 08:55 AM Its a horrible, horrible bug that doesn't go away Since Feb I've got Injectors (Group buy), Valve Springs (Group buy), 4" Dump, 3.5" Metal Cat, Walbro 044 Pump, Transmission Cooler and a Custom tune. That and the 19" rims/tyres I brought recently aswell. I find most of my money is going onto my car and after I do my intercooler I believe im going to stop until I have enough in the bank for a built gearbox just incase mine runs out of puff.If I was in your situation I'd just get the injectors and tune done. Nothing wrong with pulling 250rwkw because as stock your only going to get 190-200rwkw so your well above that already. If you do get valve springs, injectors, high flow cat and custom tune and hit around 280rwkw mark. If your stock tyres are worn in anyway you'll regret it. (This happened to me and all my car did in 2nd,3rd was lean out horribly to the point any drag racing on the private road became pointless as all my wheels done was spin)

I'm thinking that since it needs a retune anyways, I may as well do the injectors and leave the rest for the time being...Thanks for your input everyone Dan

Had mine for a day when I did the first mod ( 2nd CAI) then the center muffler. Once I did that about 2 months or so later I was planning a trip to VIC for more mods. All up with in less than 3 months ( I think) of buying my ute I threw the warranty out and injectors and a new intercooler in. Now not even 12 months of owning the ute I'm already buying bits for the next lot of mods. Be careful, you will get bit by the bug, and as ghosti said, You play you WILL pay. One way or another.
