Hey all,

Loving the new T, but I'm having a few issues with it...

It has a 2 1/2" Catback exhaust (so not really an upgrade...), SS CAI, Custom tune running 240rwkw at 12psi.

I took it to XFT and simon said My injectors started leaning out at 240rwkw, so he advised me to save up for another set.

So I think to myself, 'Do I save up for injectors then get retuned? Or Do I just get it retuned down?" Then I thought, "If I have to pay for a retune, maybe I should get some more mods as well..."

I'm just really concerned about the auto (Haven't checked the problem yet, but seems to be fine) and the valve springs, and the financial side of things...

Injectors are $420~ in the group buy ($600 installed?)

Retune is $695

Valve springs are $1,000 installed

New cat/Dump was quoted $1695, but have been looking around the for sale section.

Don't even want to think about gearbox rebuilds/new boxes...

That's $4K ($4K I don't have mind you...) For probably only a 30 or 40rwkw increase...

Since I'm financially challenged, should I just get the injectors and a retune? Is that a safe and worthwhile mod? Any other suggestions of cheapish mods to do?

Thanks everyone,

Dan

ha ha ha ha welcome to turbo world ,doesn't matter what you do you will always do more it never stops

you don't need the dump pipe unless you wanna go over low 300's

is the exhuast single 2 1/2 or duel

get some injecters an high flow cat do a safe tune around 280 and stick with that for a while

although I did kill my box with 285 I was still learning how to drive the thing properly

Thanks PHNTM,

But simon said the tune that's in the car is rubbish...I can't rev past 5 g as the injectors lean out...I have to retune it.

I have to do something, but I'm stuck as what to do...Injectors and tune? Just a tune?

Cheers,

Dan

Mate, the simple answer is if you can't afford to do it then don't.

Save up your pennies then contemplate it.

Dont forget to take into account a new intercooler.....as they are only good and effecient at stock levels.....after adding more boost etc....power will be all over the place not to mention the pcm will be pulling out timing to compensate for the increased inlet temperatures.

If Simon thinks the tune is not safe, best you get him to retune and leave it at that if your on a budget cause it can snowball into thousands.

^ Thanks Ute,

Would it be worth adding new injectors as well though?

Or just tuning it down?

(I might put up a post in the 'wante' section and see if any people have any cheap upgrade parts for sale....(Like an IC etc...)

Cheers,

Dan

You have the option to go both ways....if your really stuck for cash then just retune it, if you can afford injectors and a tune then go for that....U wont be making 300 but probably will be a lot better tune to what your running now.

See what Simons says as he tunes them all day everyday.....u may not need valvesprings yet...u may get around the 250-260rwkw mark

And cheap $400 intercoolers stay away from them they arnt worth SH*T

If you're struggling to come up with a little cash for slight mods then I'd just have it retuned & leave it at that. If you go injectors, dump, cat, cooler etc you'll just end up either doing an auto, diff or engine then what? It wont be a couple of grand that you need, it'll be alot more!

Once you can afford to mod it without thinking to yourself 'damn, how am I going to be able to afford all that??', go for it as chances are you'll also have enough cash to fix anything that goes wrong :welcome2:

I personally wouldnt bother getting the dump done. What is your goal rkw? Set that and then buy the mods to do it.

So dump the dump and just get a high flow cat. Should be ~$500 installed. The rest of the exhaust should be fine for 300-330rkws
