The exhaust side will, but not the intake. I ran a way larger cooler, CAI and plenum with NO tune for 3 months and never had a hint of trouble. I had it on the dyno as well to make sure everything was fine - which it was. I would be looking at other items to be causing the problem before the intake system. In regards to disconnecting the battery - as said above - the jap cars will do it, but ours won't. Just get it tuned you won’t look back! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I installed the kit and had it on the dyno the next day and it was fine. No over boost, no boost spike and the AFR's were safe – even with the plenum. I got told that the ECU is "closed loop" so it will realise there is more volume or air going into the motor and adjust accordingly.
