I'm doubting it has anything to do with the intake side of things as that shouldn't make it go into limp mode. The exhaust side will, but not the intake.

I ran a way larger cooler, CAI and plenum with NO tune for 3 months and never had a hint of trouble. I had it on the dyno as well to make sure everything was fine - which it was.

I would be looking at other items to be causing the problem before the intake system.

In regards to disconnecting the battery - as said above - the jap cars will do it, but ours won't.

Just get it tuned you won’t look back! :nyaah:

wow that's interesting stuff there..

ok well now I know it cant be done on our cars, so im more inclined to be getting a tuner sooner than later..

Yes I do have a mate on this forums who ran a direct cai.. and the earlier versions of the P.W coolers and drove around for about 3 months with no dramas..

having a plenum without a tune, yikes..

but im still thinking it is my 4" intake as it hit limp mode on the first night I put it on

Yeah I did a fair bit of looking around and research before I installed my kit and I came to the conclusion that it probably wouldn't over boost or go into limp mode (mine's a manual anyway) but I wanted to put it on the dyno just to make sure as I knew I couldn't get it tuned straight away. I installed the kit and had it on the dyno the next day and it was fine. No over boost, no boost spike and the AFR's were safe – even with the plenum.

I got told that the ECU is "closed loop" so it will realise there is more volume or air going into the motor and adjust accordingly. Could be BS I’m not 100% sure.... but it confirms what I have seen...

Good luck with it.

hah.. damn

yes mike, it is manual.. why?

How can it go into limp mod in a manual :idunno: I always thought limp mode would just select 3rd gear and you couldnt get it out unitl if was flashed or fixed???

didnt think a manual could ?

no idea michael. rogers ute did the same when he upgraded his exhaust to the aps one.. so he just never fanged it until he got a tune..

mine however, I was fanging my car all day long with that 4" pod on ..

then came night time (cold air) .. I was gearing down from 3rd to 2nd.. driving granny styles Down hill..

I'm sure they would have a limp mode probably shut down a few cyl and limit the revs
