ok as I am new to the generic tune thing , do every supplier have there own generic ''tunes''?

as in capa have there own? , intune have there own ?

or do they all have a base which they work off . if I was going to buy a flash with generic tunes is there a certain seller I should be looking for(company generic tunes) .

do the generic tunes up the line/shift pressure? if not how will the auto (4spd) handle the power with soft(factory) shifts?

if I was to run a generic tune , it would be dynod to make sure it isnt running lean/pinging

im know I should b getting a custom tune , which I will be as soon as I sell my old car and buy more mods to get the most out of my car

cheers mic

Capa have their own generic tunes on their boxes, and any suppliers will have their own in there too. Depending on which tuner it will be one, two, or three tunes.

have a look in the sponsors section to see what our sponsors can offer, alternatively Ebay will have some or even the for sale section here.

I can speak for only mine which is from C&V, which ive had for god knows how long, safe and fine, no problems at all, I believe another WA member has had a generic from RDP and also loving it with no dramas for much longer than that.

a custom tune is always going to be better, but as you said as long as you have it checked on a dyno to make sure it's safe afr's etc you'll be fine.

Can't comment on the line/shift pressure as I can't remember :idunno:

ok well I got my flash tuner 2

ran my car up on the dyno all stock apart from a bigger ebay style intercooler is auto btw

no I was very dissapointed with the stock hp reading ....

it only put out 200rwhp on 5-4 psi with the labada reading just below 0.8 at the top end

8 psi generic tune 239rwhp

10 psi generic tune 265-270 rwhp 0.8 lambada(sp?) in most of the top end not sure on what afr that is but it wasnt lean

now is it just me or how the hell does the auto sap 90rwkw of power ?

240 kw atm to 150 rwkw at the wheels?

now what I find wierd / interesting is that they have had another car on the dyno stock xrt and made the same figure .

now ive used this dyno for yrs with other cars and had no dramas with the readings

the plugs were gapped to .8

car ran fine b4 and still does after tune

just dissapointed with the stock reading...... lowest ive seen by far :(

but it goes so much better now with double the torque ..( 1800ftlb ?)

Hey I am new to this aswell, the dyno runs I have done were (05 XR6T 6spM)

at stock, 165 Kw

at stock with 8psi generic tune 205 Kw

with X-force exhuast(4' dump to 3.5' catback) and Monza Cooler and 10psi tune and wastegate and actuator upgrade 255 Kw

For an apprentice with low funds 255 Kw is fun as

I searched for months for the right car, after driving a few I soon realised I NEEDED a manual, maybe not a quick down the strip but twice the fun

for example my 255 Kw tune only ran a 14.3 down the strip and a standard T Auto with generic 8psi ran a 14.4

yeah I know a 6spd manual would be great same with a zf auto , but I mean that is a lot of power to loose thru the drivetrain...

boost level didint drop right off , maybe on the 10psi tune dropped to 9psi near redline

but im hoping a cat and a exhuast will bump the power right up

just all the figures from stock cars scares me because myn is so low

Had my 10psi on the car for a year or so now and boy what a differnce, As I don't have a proformance shop that I trust where I live.I had no other option I knew from living in Sydney before that C&V are top notch. I got the tune wacked it on and have not had a problem yet & it still puts a smile on my face every time what a differnce. Just get it run on the dyno as I did to check air fuel ratios & then I called C&V with the results they were very happy & I was happy.
