Hi,

I wanted to know if anyone has a 5spd manual and has been able to strengthen or enhance their gearbox.

I spoke to a reputable workshop in Perth and I was told there was not much I could do.

Car is a standard Turbo and I am considering upgrading the Kilowatt's, Cheers.

you can pull it out and put a T56 (6 speed) in, other then that you are pretty much out of options as far as stregthening the T5

:crybaby: I have a t5 at the moment to, saving for a t56 so I can start going a little crazy with the power.
  • Still have a turbo, it's just on a diesel.

Keep it stock, other wise the engines Torque will eat your t5 gearbox. Many people have claimed that the T5 can handle the power of a modded T, they are soon proven wrong.

well not really, you can still get decent power, just don't go crazy

I run a bigger cooler, exhaust with cat, injectors and a tune and it handles it fine.

just BIG power eg over 300rwkw you're looking at problems.

that being said, I know a dude with a xr8 and blower running around 360 with a t5 and he's never had any problems too

a blowen V8 produces its power very differently to how a turbo 6 does, DBOSS (Blowen GT) was running over 500+ rwkw in a stock 4 speed auto, if you tried that in a T6 you would be picking up pieces of your gearbox for days!

I'm pretty sure the T5's in the 8's are a bit better but still no T56.

One of the main contributing factors to selling mine was that it was a T5 and can't be modded

T5s can take power just not a great deal of it. Mine ran 300rwkw for a couple of years, but has since been replaced with a Mal Woods. Best money I have spent on the car in the 12 months I have had it and there has been a bit lol.

Its a really nice strong box which gives me 100% confidence when going hard.
