I take good old somac 40mg once a day in the morning and I dont have problems but never had them as bad as some of you fellas, mine was caused mainly by all the pain meds taken over the last 6years

I can pretty much eat anything except for onions and instant coffee I cant drink on an empty stomach.

I rarely drink alcohol now either...

a doctor also told me that raising the head of your bed a bit helps keep the acid down, I also reccomend drinking a big glass of milk, there now you know all my secrets!!!

I just hope the rest of you guys dont end up like me and desflurane mine wasnt that bad for the first few years eveynow and then it would flare up then settle down again but this time for the last year its stayed sh*t the whole time unless a very strict diet is followed which is a major pain in the ass when working longer hours as most ppl do these days

had it for as long as I can remember.

I was perscribed some stuff for it for a while but then decided to try zantax. I get the one that works for 24hrs and its not too bad.

I also wake from it and if I dont have anything to fix it out comes the milk carton.

The mrs always tells me to go to the doctor but they didnt really do anything for me in the past, what are they gonna do now.

Mine really took a bad turn last feb.. Got the flu pretty bad and I dont know what but it made it terrible

Hey trev and every body that has this reflux problem.

Go to your G.P. and get a blood test for HELICOBACTER PYLORI.

about 20% of 40 Y.O and about 40% OF 60 Year olds have it as a bactirial infection in their

stomach.

I had reflux for about 5 years, and chronic reflux ror about 12 months, my Doc put me on 7 Day Helicobacter kit and within about 3 days of starting the course of tablets, my reflux was gone.

After 1 month you do a breath analisys test at a local Lab to confirm total eradication of the infection.

TO EASY.

I finally did something about mine the other week it flared back up and wasn't going away this time and was starting to affect my everyday living. I am currently on Somac 40mg, takin 1 tablet a day and it seems to be working and this week I'm going in for my blood test for helicobacter pylori as my doctor tells me that it can be treated easy with a combination of tablets. the thing that she thought may be my problem is stress and alcohol as I'm only 22 with it. So for all those who havent had a blood test I would reccomend it as it doesn't sound bad at all to me just some more of the usual tablets.

I had it bad for years. It would rise into the mouth during sleep and wake me up at times. I cut back heavily on carbs. I was eating plenty of rice, white breads and pasta. I switched to Basmatti rice, soy pasta and a decent rye or low wheat bread. The symptoms disappeared immediately and I no longer suffer at all.

ive had this for as long as I can remember, im 23 now and can remember having back in my very early teens. I NEVER go a day without having it for a good % of the day, life is miserable lol

I was on 20mg nexium, then 40mg, then I was overdosin and taking 80mg and didnt help. My gut specialist kept telling me to persist with it but it still doesnt help but I keep taking it anyway. Another strong one you could try is pariot, different people have different reactions to certain drugs.

I had tube down throat as specialist was worried about ulcer, but surprisingly enough I dont have one. Speak to a specialist as long run, there are certain operations one can have to try and rid this but not without there side effects, until then best of shying clear of what gives it to you. Myself, I get it from everything lol spicy food, junk food, stress, soft drinks and running excessively.

My 2 best friends are milk and quik eeze - love you both

I used to suffer from it really bad. It was to the point where it woke me at night, and stopped me going out for a drink. I had a helicobacter test (breath test), and then started taking somac. I had a scope done (just to check), but nothing showed up. Since I've been taking somac I can count on one hand the amount of times I've had reflux. I've only had it a couple of times, and that was due to me missing a few days of somac. I was supposed to have another helicobacter test, but so far my condition is being managed well by somac.

I haven't been back to the doc for any follow ups on my previous scope, but I should get tested for helicobacter again and see about trying to sort it out once and for all...

My brother gets it bad some times too, but he's too stubborn to go see his doctor. My advice is to go see your doc asap, get it all checked out.
