close friend of mine is getting married next year, have been engaged for over a year now, and the dude still hasent asked the old man... Really not going down well with the family, or extended family either...

not the first time one of my friends has been in this sort of situation... so might be worth crossing off one of the triditional boxes.. just incase!

If your going to propose in Paris, can I suggest NOT to do it over dinner at the eiffel tower. Way overated if you ask me and theres far better locations in the city of love. Food there is also crapola! Apparently my GF thought it was very romantic (and all her friends immediately asked her if I had proposed) but yeh... They also said that about the sunrise hot air balloon trip & champagne breakfast over the Avon Valley. Actually they have raised that question a lot of the last 5 years lol.

When the time comes to settle down (I dont plan on getting married til late 20s / early 30's so that's 5+ years) my plan is somewhere mind blowing in the Swiss Alps. A lot of my mates have recently got engaged and only one of the proposals was half decent. Rose petels on the beach in Broome at Sunset saying "will u marry me".. One recent one was over pizza at the foreshore. Another one was at the airport! Guess like you say, if your gonna do it, do it properly. Although one got a golden lab. puppy with a ring on its collar one valentines day!

Im sure she would love you proposing at a GP meet or even better, the Nurburgring

for a ring I can't comment as I got mine at basically cost price of $800 (family friend owned a store) We had her wedding ring made though and it was about $1200 from memory (also at basically cost price, 12 diamonds, white and yellow gold, damn nice ring).

As for where and when to pop the ???, whenever your comfortable AND if you are somewhere and you suddenly think about it DO IT!!! I made a few mistakes like that at ayres rock and kept putting it off until really didn't have a time or place to propose. Asked her eventually (and now that I think about it she STILL hasn't said yes, although been married for 4.5 years and a 3.5 year old son) at a place that wasn't the best nor romantic but the rest is history.

if you want to keep the proposal a surprise and be all romantic, what I did was buy a cheapo $50 standin/fake ring from a Jewellers for my proposal and took that away when I did my deed. It actually still looked the busniess and then when we came back I said we have $X and go look for a ring. What she choose was totally different to anything I imagined she would get.

Hi Dan,check ebay there is a place in WA that I found to be the cheapest, way cheaper.Make sure you ask him if it is a natural diamond,believe it or not these day they sell chemically grown diamonds and flog them of as diamonds there hardness is 8.5 compared to 10 for the real thing.There is a shop in sydney I checked them out she would never know the difference,spend the dollars saved on the t.I didn't buy one went with a mate he did ,his wife is none the wiser showing off her 2 carat rock for $1000.00 .Cheers Nick

hey I went through jogia diamonds they are located in perth but the owner flies all over the state

I had a design and I picked a diamond out of the list they had (1000s)

it cost me around 5000 but what these jewlers in store charge they said 10k

so just have a look on the net for them

I like the idea of the cheep one to propose with then let her pick what she wants, you can get some really cheep ones that look the part, plus you need the size and if you are over seas and its too big you wouldnt want to loose the real ring. maybe let her choose one when your in paris, I dont think you could get better than that

something dont sound right! In my opinion if you dont know how she would like to be proposed to and if she would want a ring then or make/pick her owne you dont understand her enough to get married. You should stop stressing and think about what her personality is like and work it out from there, dose she like supprises or is she a level headed understanding person. Are material things important to her. You need to think back over the last few years and workout what her fav moments were and this will give you a great insight in to what you do. You can even ask her what her best memories in your relationship are that's if you cant rember or dident pick up on them. Any way good luck, there arn't manny out there worth it these days..... and no I havent been married, never will as I have seen to manny f*cked up endings.
