Hey everyone,

I just bought my first T and I love it. Although, I would really like to put an xr8 bonnet on with some 'xr6 turbo' decals.

I have seen a fibreglass one on ebay which will be $600 delivered. I have also seen a genuine one for between $800 and $900...

Now for the fibreglass one - How much will that cost to be prepped/fitted/installed and painted?

How about for the steel one? How much for a factory paint colour?

Any one any better than the other?

I'm trying to get an idea of how much this could cost...

Thanks everyone,

Dan

Steel is better here mate, generally the fiberglass ones have fit issues and are harder to prep. I believe you also need new gas struts as the fibreglass bonnet is lighter than the steel one.

IMO by the time you pay for all the stuffing around with the glass one to get it perfect, you could just get the genuine one done and not have any legality or insurance issues (if applicable in your state)

hey mate. 100% go steel one. a few chips ect the glass one looks crap.

in the long run wouldnt cost much more to do the genuine one.

with painting- depending on color match should cost bout $450 ish to paint.

that's if there is no damage or chips to pick up ect.

if you want color %110 id say blend into the gaurds. will cost more though.

prob say $700 -800 to paint it all.

You will also need to buy all the clips and the rubber seal. and if your picky a new sound mat. All up it costs about $250.

the xr8's dont have a bonnet mat do they?

I was looking at one for when I did my xr8 bonnet and couldnt find a mat at all?
