Calder Park in Melbourne is having legal off street drag racing tonight 1st August.

Here is a link to there site. http://www.motorsport.com.au/street_drags.htm

I'll be there in a stock auto ready to take on any and all stock manuals (bring your tissues).

There is also a discussion on the Ford forum about which is faster XR6T or XR8, so ill post the same invite there too.

Hopefully this way we can finalize the debate on which is quicker the auto vs manual and the 8 vs Turbo.

Any sane person already knows that the Auto "T" will be victorious. So come on you manual guys (wink wink IMTRBO :D ), and help to prove me correct.

geea, I applaud you efforts ... you know of course, that it won't prove a damn thing!

I can see it now, there'll be all sorts of explainations and excuses (from both camps) about conditions on the night and skill levels of drivers, etc., etc.

Have fun boys, and keep it nice!

Does it really matter?!

What's a few tenths of a second in the real world? You're really only talking about bragging rights etc. XRT or XR8, auto or manual are all within a bee's whisker of each other! Ken's right about other factors playing a part.

I also wonder about insurance - can you guys really afford to put a $50,000.00 investment at risk?

OK, OK - I'll @#$% off back to the nursing home, fondly remembering the Fiat Lancia club of the early 70's where one of my fellow Fiat sufferers kept taking bits off his car in a deparate (and unsuccessful) to get the best time of the day. Spare, tools, excess fuel, back set, passenger front seat, lots of trim bits etc etc. It's a wonder he didn't start drilling every metal component in the car! He probably fasted and took laxatives too!

But it was different in those days! (Plus ca change?)

Regards and hve fun

PS will be keen to see the results!

 Great opportunity to open more excuses.

I would be keen to know the results, also between cars of same configuration but different mileage (or is that kilometre-ge)

It's interesting to note quite a few posts indicating the performance improves significantly as the motor loosens up after 8k~10 k km

Either way, enjoy the opportunity tonight. Have fun.
