Good review richdave, but I would have put some of your pros in the cons section instead.

Window swithes in centre console. I hate this. I much prefer them on the arm rest on the door.

Well, that's the only one that I know I would make a con. There are a few others that I would need to experience myself before I put them in the pro, con, or "who cares" category!

Boot release in glove box

Boot lid hinges intrude into boot space reducing effective size even more.

These are two things that I absolutely HATE about the commie. We have a VR exec at work and I sometimes drive my mates VT1 S(paco), and that damn boot release always makes me laugh! Why oh why is it in the glovebox, it's so damn annoying!! Then you can never fully pack the boot because things get crushed by those dumb hinges! I don't understand how such a big company can continue incorporating these dumb things into their cars.

Anyway, good review!

I was just wondering if someone here can tell me exactly what this "deadlock" feature is on the commodore? how does it differ from normal door locks?

This feature was introduced with the VR or VS (IIRC) and enabled the drivers door ke to be turned 1/4 turn anti clockwise, this engaged a "dead lock" which meant that even if the windows were smashed the doors could not be opened without the key. In the later models (VT series 2 I think) they made it electronicly activated so that if you pressed the lock button twice the doors were dead locked.

A great idea IMO.

Deadlock - can't open the doors even if you break the windows and reach in to open - but can if just locked normally with remote.

And I'll be sticking with my SS - much prefer it :D

BTW nearly all features you can change yourself via the dash menu system - how long interior light stays on, whether the doors auto lock or not, plus many other things so you can personalise most of the settings of the car to the way you like it. A big plus in my book.

Hey all you BA "T" men,

I do believe that if you check out the functions on your remote locking, you'll find there is a deadlock feature.

But, on the down side of this, I bloody hate having the controller seperate from the key.

The thoughts of others?

Mack....
