I done one that went for 3 hours.basically they go over everything u "need to know" for the test, not alot of useless crap.then they go over the PWC (jet-ski) info and at the end u can go for either just the boat or PWC and boat license together.if u get stuck on a question the bloke comes and "helps" you find the right answer by basically spelling it out to you and 15 mins after the certificate is signed and given to you.the couse was about $200 but worth every cent. Thinking about doing it. The old man has a boat sitting in the shed not getting any love so thought I might as well get off my arse this summer and make use of it. Little bit of water skiing and fishing is always good I reckon. So let me know your thoughts (if you have any!)Go to this link NSW MARITIME . And complete the online course for $11.. print the certificate and go sit your test at any maritime office.. IMO the course is O.K..Just done it........ if its first time on the water as boat driver take someone with experience with you to show you the in's and out's of being on the water ! Or do a tutored course at a price !Pete

Food provided and you could bring a friend/partner. I'm in Perth and not experienced.

Some serious boats in Perth these days. Noticed White Rabbit, Seven Stars and another decent one in Freo in recent months! Dunno if I'd go to that extreme but if I had a few million to spare I'd have 60ft of decked out game boat moored at Hillarys, all fueled up ready for summer assualts on Rotto, Exmouth and the Rowleys! One powerball I guess!I assume your a member of one of the yacht clubs? Could they not point you in the direction of someone with insurance etc?First boats I ever drove were tugboats and crayboats. Lots of fun playing mock rescues off Freo in a bunky old tugboat when its cold and windy! You really dont want to be the person in the water lol. Good fun boating Edited 04/11/08 12:12 PM by Mat

Eventually we will learn it all, but still need just a little help when things get hairy at times.
