Just thought I'd share some pics of my new girl :roflmbo: (09 KTM 450 EXC).

The second pic is how I got it, 1st is after I finished 'personalising' it.

Only done 60 ks so far, but is by far the best bike I've ever ridden. Am planning a longer trail ride later this week.

Sweet! How does she feel/go compared to the 250?

Goes a lot harder up high I bet! You will be able to drill those open trails now!

I'm not a big fan of all the black through the middle however. It needs some white or orange to break up the colour a bit IMO - like the '08 ones. I still wouldn't say no however. Nice bike....!

Once I got the suspension set up right (much more adjustable than the 250), it feels so much nicer than the 250 (and a hell of a lot punchier). The 250 was harder to steer, the 450 rails ruts like it's glued down, it goes wherever I point it, and the front end is so sure footed I can come into corners much more agressively than on the 250. The only thing it doesn't do as good as the 250 is turn in a sharply (mainly due to the additional reciprcating mass from the bigger motor), but that's more than made up with everything else.

I hate the black too (especially the prone to scratching rims). That's why I added the white backgrounds straight away. The Six Day bikes look good with clear tanks, but we didn't get them here. I will say one thing going for the black tank, it doesn't mark up as easily as the orange tank on my 250 did. I guess that for a couple of hundred I could get a sticker kit made up, but I'll wait until the standard stickers are shot before I do that. In the end the ride is more important than the looks for me (in a dirt bke that is).

Sounds awesome! The only downside for me (which is the same for you) is the slight weight disadvantage over the smaller bikes. Turn in isn't so much of an issue for me, but throwing it around in the really tight single track is definitely a lot harder. Just on the quick direction changes. I love it but, there is no way I would get a smaller one!

Your white backgrounds do look good. I know what you’re saying about the rims. I put black excel rims with gold hubs on mine and they get scratched real bad! Not much you can do however considering the hiding they get. Clear tanks are the best thing since canned piss! A quick glance tells me exactly how much fuel I have! I love it.

True - function over style every time when it comes to puddle jumpers!
