To what setting can I preset my Boost Pressure, Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature to on the gauges.....Any idea??

If the readings go beyond the preset level then warning light and alarm will come up.... Edited 29/10/08 04:30 AM by silverbolt

My warning is set at 60 psi for oil pressure, but my car runs 15.5 psi boost which will probably be a little high for you...Go out give your car a trash and note the maximum readings, its the easiest way. I just fit my gauge yesterday, and the oil pressure reading was between 2-5 Bar. Is that mean my reading was high or your setting is low?I got another question regarding the boost gauge reading. For optimum performance, we suppose to shift gear (manual) when the boost is max, is this correct?

However, judging by your sig, the car is tuned by Bluepower so you should have a dyno readout plotting the power and torque curve. Take a look at your curve and as soon as the power starts to fall off, that's where you should be shifting.

Coz in my mind, I thought like the boost and the oil temp, the higher the oil pressure reading the worse the car engine is. Now since you explain, I know that low oil pressure reading (I.e 1 bar) indicates problems. With the shift point, I know that I should shift gear at ~ 5000RPM for max performance. But as I am not a good manual driver, I can't feel the car (knowing when the RPM is 5000) and when racing I cannot keep my eye on the tacho reading. Is there any relationship between engine RPM and boost? So I can set my boost gauge so that it will sound at 5000RPM so I can hear it and shift gear (just like the shift light which I don't want to put one in my car). If you feel the power taper off, that is the right time to shift. Generally with my car I can feel the power keep increasing, then at a certain point I can feel it plateau. This is when the power levels off and by the time you realise it the power is falling off again - this is the right time to shift. Its all about practice mate, but most of all enjoy the car!
