Shannons gave me the same story as Jack said.. not rare enough, and I drive the car too much.. that was almost two years ago.

Just cars have been good, but pricey.. I fail to see why I keep getting slogged for $2000 a year (24yrs old) when I have max no claim bonus, no previous claims, or anything. clean record etc... my first claim was 7 weeks ago  so I hope it doesn't affect it too much.

While we're on the topic, I got my premium the other day... the value of the car has dropped from around 40k, to 32k, but my premium stayed the same. Is this normal?? I thought maybe its cause I claimed.. but I dunno, I have a no claim bonus protection thingy so that should mean my premium is safe?

Dont forget that im under 25, even though my record is good

AAMI wont touch my mods

$1300 RACV will but not edit and intercooler and BOV $450 excess (this is who im with now)

$1400 Just Cars will but with a ridiculous excess of 2200

$1600 Shannons will do any legal mod and have only a $500 excess

I havent been able to find anywhere that will give me insurance for this car under 1g

Shannons will also do my house for cheaper and with their agreed value and any mods allowed it seems like a good deal. I was just interested in seeing whether anyone has had bad experiences with them. They seem to be all over TV and the car shows atm

NRMA will not insure a xr6t with a full exhaust system only cat back.

Shannons will also cover your other vehicles that are not modified if you have a modified car already insured with them.

at present they are insuring both my t and my 1989 express van.

I tried getting a quote for insurance through shannons and they said they wouldn't insure me because I drive it to much. They said they only insure people who only use there cars on the weekend. So I ended up going through AMII

Has anyone had a significant increase after being honest and telling your insurance company that you just modding your ride with edit and tune, intercooler and metal cat. My ute is stock..now but these are the mods I want. Has anyone gone though this or shall I just STFU about it. PM me if you dont want to post.

Cheers

im insured through shannons, and havent had an "issue" yet, so cant tell you how they are when it comes to the crunch (bad pun!).

but I was with nrma until they brought in thier new system of fixing cars, and I was paying 1650 a year (24 year old, western sydney, maximum no claim bonus, no at-fault claims, insured under business use). when my renewal came up I explained that I was told last time I needed business use, but I now realised I didnt so I wanted to change back to private use. they said no problem, price now up to 1750. WTF! bugger off!

went to shannons - same price, choice of repairer, allowance for 1 new windscreen per year, and added my xy falcon (valued at 25k) on to the policy for 450.

a bit over 2k pear year and ive got both cars insured for the agreed amount I want and choice of repairer (and if you have at least half a brain cell and love your car, you want to be able to choose your repairer).

im happy with them, but as I said, I havent had to deal with them in regards to claims yet.

I have all my mods covered on the insurance, I paid extra for the wheels (20") to be covered and it was about $50 a year to add...

I then listed the Nizpro Stage 1 of Edit, Injectors and Valve Springs and because I paid off my car in the last couple months and made that change too it made on difference to my policy, basically one cancelled the other out...

It's about $1100.00 year, Rating 1 and 28 year old... According to AAMI when I spoke to them twice when I bought my car they won't insure an XR6T unless you are over 30yo... so they sent me to Just Cars... though I can purchase insurance for my car off AAMI through their website quoting system... go figure?!?!
