If you have a legitimate reason to why you are unable to drive any other car, than they are able to make an expection and let you drive the car. Same with if you had already purchased the car before the new policy came in, you are able to drive you car.

Guest FatBAt Guests Posted 31/10/05 12:15 AM Share Posted 31/10/05 12:15 AM just sold my t and pick up my new mk11 ba xr6t in shockwave on wednesday, only thing left was to organise insurance which considering I am 18 turnin 19 next week, I was not looking forward to doing this if it was gonna be anywhere near what I paid for the insurance on my old t.any to cut a very long story short. I ranf 9 places all up and ended up with just cars being the only people offering me anything at 2370 which I thought was average. anyway I had one place left NRMA. I rang them and went through everything and she comes back at me with a quote for 1017 to which I asked her to make sure that this was for full comp and she said yes and I screamed to sign me up immediately. I also asked her about mods and she said as long as they are legal then there is no prblem and the total value of modifications is less than the value of the car. best part of all this is because I had 2 grand saved for insurance and its only half of that I know have enough to get my edit finally.totally awesomecheersmac daddy<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I hate to rain on anyones parade but I would ring NRMA again and ask the same Q's to a different person.I was with NRMA for 25 years and had all my other insurances with them and they knocked me back on the mods.Specifically the lowering. I told them that it was legal and they said it did not matter. They have their own criteria and if it isn't met, too bad. She said if you answer yes to any of the 7 questions then they can't insure. These were to name a fewTyre wider than standard. Something about offset.Lower than 2cm (or 3 - cant remember now) than standard height. At the time I was 43 years old with 60% NCB. Unless they have loosened their criteria in the last 2 years then I would be worried. Remember one thing though mate. You have a duty of disclosure to tell them everything. They don't have to ask.I would have the car inspected by NRMA before I would enter into anything. That way you will be 100% covered if they accept you.Again, I don't want to bring you down but just be real careful.Cheers

NRMA have a flag on the mod 'catalytic convertor' and you end up getting cancelled. So add that to your list. This was fine by me as I checked it out before the mods and new about it, so I'd already organised AAMI, found it was cheaper then rang up to get cancelled after the mods. No cancellation fee was billed either.
