Not surprised about this at all. It seems they have no idea at all. The woman I spoke to kept putting me on hold to talk to the supervisor for 5mins at a time. Then they stated they wouldnt cover intercooler mods but couldnt give a specific reason why...

I think they make up the price as they go ... with little thought ... if the car is not 100% stock they have trouble ... even Factory options were a problem to them ... as I fitted the Standard Ford 18" wheels and they had problems with them ... and they were factory fitted?!?!

These are just my experiences, I am curious how many people with AAMI (and significantly modified cars) have made claims, and what have been your experiences. I only ask as I have more than 5 close friends who have not had good experiences with them at all???

Well, I had a bad experience with them with my other car, a civic. Had to go back to the repairer 4 times and they still didnt fix it properly. They use cheap arse repairers who do dodgy jobs, IMO

I'm 26, AAMI will not insure you if you are under 30 and have a MKll, I own a MKl and you have to be over 25, go figure,  I pay $998 with a higher Excess with AAMI.

Um that's rubbish, I have been insured with AAMI since I was 28 with mods $800 odd per year on my T in Melbourne.

Ummm no its not.

They wont touch me either, cause im under 30.

It changes from state to state.

But in the ACT, if you own a T, and are under 30, they wont touch you.

Unbelieveable, what's the difference between someone under 30 in Vic vs under 30 in NSW?

Geea had Boof insured with AAMI I believe, and had trouble free change over to Runble from my understanding. They were the ones that wanted to write the car off even though it could have been fixed.

Thanks, JB ... Good to know ... and I am sure Geea can answer this but when written off, did AAMI pay for all the mods plus the cars standard value?

I know that this has been asked and answered many times but I thought that I'd let you know that I have come across what I think is a pretty good price to insure our "T's".

A friend of mine told me to give these guy's a ring as he has done heaps of mods to his car and said he was pretty sure that they would insure the car.

Name of insurance is Wesfarmers Federation Insurance.

Asked a couple of questions about moddifications that they are allowing.

1. Wider tyres?

2. Lowered suspension?

3. Computer chip policy?

Answers

1. Allowed as long as roadworthy

2. Allowed as long as roadworthy

and the most important answer that concerns a lot of people hear.

3. Allowed. yes you read it right they have no policy in relation to this item and have no problem insuring the XR6 Turbo.

Price quoted with windscreen replacement cover = wait for it $658 pa.

There is a catch though. They only do package insurance either Business or House and content insurance. Auto insurance is a subsidory and something they offer with the main insurance.

How much to insure the house and contents you ask.

On a $250,000 House and $50,000 contents insurance package the price was $605 pa.

Total price for the House and Car $1263 pa

Some people are paying more than that to just insure the "T"

What do you all think, is this good value and peace of mind.
