Guest FatBAt Guests Posted 14/04/04 08:55 PM Share Posted 14/04/04 08:55 PM Personally, I found it very difficult to insure mine (at a price I wanted to pay)because of the lowered suspension. It is RTA legal (just) but one insurer whom I'd been with for 22 years had their own guidelines above that of the RTA. Seven in fact. If your car failed one of these seven rules, no insurance.HistoryWhen I rang this company to get a cover note to pickup my T, there was no problem. I told them that it had lowered suspension plus a few extras etc...basically everything they asked me. The premium was $680 per year so I thought great, I'll go with that. All my mates within the next 2 weeks or so asked how the hell is your insurance so cheap and advised me to look into it further so I did. I rang them up again and gave them all the details again....hang on she said...lowered suspension ... "you have to pass all these 7 rules". I said what seven rules are you talking about. To cut a long story short, I was driving my car for 2 weeks uninsured. I went ballistic! So I said to them I'm outta here after 22 years. (and) I'll take my home/contents somewheres else. I have found an insurance co that will insure me for circa $780 per year. Lucky I found her I guess. All that was required is that the car was RTA legal. I quiried them like 3 times about the suspension and they said it was fine.If you are wondering why the premium is so cheap its because all elected drivers are all over 40. However, my son can learn to drive in it when he comes of age next year without paying any extra premium but he can't drive it solo.I would love to hear what other T owners have found with their insurance companies.Cheers

XRPhantom Member 173 Member For: 21y 4d Location: NSW Posted 14/04/04 11:35 PM Share Posted 14/04/04 11:35 PM Mine is a stock T ute....The only companies that would insure me (As I was 22 when I bought it) were Just Car and NRMA (of all people) I went with NRMA as my insurance was a tad over $2500 a year which I could pay monthly. But Just Car insurance was a once off payment for a couple of hundred less (They also allow 12 modifications without question) But as I has just brought the car I didn't have $2300 just lying around so I went with NRMA pay by the month. I turned 23 in Feb and did a search on the NRMA site for an online quote. Found out that now I was 23 my insurance premium dropped to $2000. So I got straight on the phone and changed my policy. But I also this time opted for the NCB protection which was an additional $300 a year, but well worth it for me as if I crash the car and make a claim my insurance would be around $7000 (They prob wouldn't insure me). So im happy at the moment but will be more happy when im over 25 and don't have to pay these rediculous amounts of money!!!!

I get a free windscreen a year, hire car after a accident and a no- claim bonus with this policy. Where I live keeps the price down too, I don't reckon a car has ever been stolen from here. I also found them good when I was under

They even let u have 3 mods and will still insure you...although I didnt ask if that makes the premium rise, I dont think so, they made no mention of it when they emailed me back after I emailed them... Now that you are in Canberra, you should try asking for a refund/rebate as your risk rating is now significantly less. Either that on cancel the policy, get the refund, then re-apply again. Guest FatBAt Guests Posted 15/04/04 03:55 AM Share Posted 15/04/04 03:55 AM My problem was with the car being lowered. NRMA would have, well did if act, accept my policy initially. AAMI didn't care what mods (or how many) just so long as it is RTA legal.I am suprised what some of you guys pay for premiums. Sheesh! for your inputCheers
