Hence your cheap insurance.

Anyone living in the city (east of Springwood, north of Woolongong and south of Newcastle) is going to pay more because it's more likely your car will be stolen or damaged. Rural guys always get cheaper insurance.

Someone with different wattage headlight globes or hid's, tint too dark etc could have their policy void if they wanted to be pricks.

There isn't much that can be done legally.

I got a quote from just cars including all mods, they didn't mention them having to be legal or engineered either. Guess you'd need to read the fine print.

Funny I spoke to soon! Renewal notice came increase from $89pm to $105pm I rang and asked why the rise! There response was we asses claims in the area and as the car has gotten older risk of damage increases so premium rises! Can't complain really....

I went in to NRMA yesterday, the woman there brought up my quote and re-entered all my details. didnt change a thing and it came to $1747 (up from $1247). so she called her boss and apparently insurance went up the day after I did my quote (I think that's BS... to go up $500?? maybe $100 or two) anyway it kindof made sense as they were significantly cheaper than ANY other insurer.

good news is, because I saved the quote on that particular day... they still charged me the $1247.

It seems as though where you live has more of a factor in your premium than what your age is nowadays. My insurance is in the country so that's probably why its not too bad, plus I have heard of suburbs even making a difference to premiums.

RAC Insurance

2012 FG MkII XR6T Sedan

Agreed Value: $45k

Excess: $450

Western Australia, Perth

23yro male with clean driving record, no prior claims etc. $920p/a :) Pretty happy with that.

Those insurance comparison sites are useless. One I tried only came back with 3 options (probably by insurance companies that "sponsor" the site) of $3000, $3500, and $4500!?

SGIO quoted me ~$1500 for the same coverage and excess levels as RAC... Pays to just try every single online quote system. I also rang up RAC to take out the insurance rather than online as I had a few quesions. Ended up being a few dollars less than the online quote (which has a $35 discount for doing it online...).

Madness.
