Chris,

If AAMI were the best quote I would check with them again. I had the same problem with them.

My old car was with AAMI but they wouldn't insure the T for any driver under 30 (I'm 29).

When I went back to get a refund on the old policy they asked why I was leaving. When I told them the operator said that wasn't the whole story. They would insure the T for me and there was a clause put in that I was the only driver under 30 covered.

Their quote was $588 which is pretty good so it might be worth asking them if they will cover you with the same clause in your policy.

Um excuse me Miss XR,

you've quite a valuable vehicle here, unless you're richer an all hell why don't you just raise her off the weeds a smig & get her insured legit.

Scotty

p.s. should I be calling your car a him in reference to your, um sex?

Chris, I insured Bruce on the 2nd of Oct wihtout a worry with AAMI, their online system 'endorsed' policy excluding drivers under 25 when I got the quote week or two before. And I'm a mere 28.

When I went through the motions in their office and created the policy, no endorsement!

Interesting ;)

A.

Insurance!!!

Funny how that was my b**ch today!!!

Looking to get mine sorted before leaving for Tassie.

Now I am a plus 30 girl, with one accident (bloody RABBIT) that ok, cost $2500 to repair but still hardly MY friggin fault......

so due date is 24th December, merry ho ho xmas!

I drive a 94 Astina hatch, didn't list the mods, kept accessories to a bare minimum....

My premium INCREASED with Western QBE by.....

wait for it

last year $669

this year

$1029!!!!!!!!

I'm with Chris with my response!

No friggin way!

They 'tell' me it's because Canberra have had a lot of accidents and premiums have gone up!

Bah humbug!

So...... I whinge, and I mean I WHINGE a lot, they ring the local Canberra underwriting supervisor, say I have been with company x number of years blah blah blah and premium gets reduced to $885.

Me still on rating 3, and only after I haggle about it.

So I ring around getting quotes.

Well, theres a lesson on how to be treated like dirt.

I end up speaking to NRMA who tell me that an accident with an animal doesn't count as an unrecoverable at fault accident, they put me on a Rating 1 with protected No Claim Bonus for life....

alrighty I think......

premium is still $938

ah frig it!

they offer monthly which is $86 a month.

So I take the monthly option and go shopping with the rest of the $600 I had saved up!

Merry Xmas Aaron and Bruce!

oh, and me too!

;)

I'm 30, have 65% no claim bonus, pay $1100 full comprehensive with car valued at $61,000, that's with lowering and other stuff. I do have 2 speeding fines in my 13 years of driving and have had 2 accidents, one not my fault, one was my fault (only 4 years ago). But I think my advantage is that I've been on my dad's car and truck insurances since starting to drive and he hasn't claimed anything in 25 years..

Kitty,

Be wary of paying monthly as should you be unfortunate enough to have to make a claim I believe you are expected to pay the outstanding/remaining annual fee before they will accept your claim.

Insurance companys certainly need a rocket. They insure the $51000 XR T and it costs $582.00. I then try to insure the TX3 Laser, and they say it is only worth $7000.00 but its a sports car and high performance and 4x4 oh that is bad. Its got the turbo you say, dear dear this is not pretty. $554.00. Now I still haven't worked out how they work out the equations and come up with the cost. Shouldn't it be 1/7th of the cost of the XR??. It most definitly pays to shop around though. I had some very high quotes when I was looking. Some would not even provide insurance???. Having had my gripe though, I do feel sorry for the rest of you who are paying rip off prices to insure the much loved vehicle.

Don't get me started about insurance!

I think if you look up "insurance" in a thesaurus, it says "discrimination".

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here gone through an insurance broker?
