I try and keep my excess down or at least standard level. Got hit with a hailstorm at my place 18months ago. 2 cars and house excess totalling $1650 on top of an at fault accident a few months earlier. Thank fark I resisted changing any of them to the $1000 or so that the companies wanted to try and save a few bucks.

hi ravenhard,by changing it to $1000 it took $200 of my policy...so worth the risk if anything happens it's really only $200 extra

I went over to AAMI last year, listed all my mods & went with a $2000 excess as my car hardly ever leaves its car-hole. Cost $673 a year.

im with nrma have a 450 excess and my premium is only 900 a year includes unlimited windscreens

I was with NRMA but I switched when they tried to shaft me with my greenslip.

For full comprehensive insurance @ market value, max. no-claim bonus & a similar excess they wanted just over $900

haha good one - notice yours was cheap cos they didnt need to worry about top coat when it got repaired
