Well - No more AAMI in this house!!!

Switched to GIO on da gurlys car, so now both with GIO... :) and man how much cheaper they were once they knew both cars, and everything else!

Thumbs up GIO!

- Choice of repairer,

- Cheaper rates then AAMI and 4 others (excluding the excess) - just had to talk to them and they lowered the premium...

- noticed yesterday they have an office in the near by shopping center as well if we need to talk to them in person..

- windscreen, car hire, and travel bonus all included and still cheaper the AAMI...

- half the waiting time on the fone to that of AAMI...

- and all extras listed on the policy and agreed price of about 9K more then AAMI...

- just need to get off my butt for business insurance quote from GIO v's my broker... Broker is a legend and still has our home and contents...

Just waiting on feedback from AAMI - when da gurly picked up the car from the AAMI chosen repairer the guy was rude and wanted to know why she was checking over her car, only to have him point at a SS and say if you had that then you should look over the car... then walked off... Great choice of repairer AAMI... Yet another reason the policy has been pulled and the refund for the remaining 9 months of the policy better be in our PO box by the end of the week!

After all the fighting they wouldn't agree to a cash settlement value as per 3 other repairers quotes, and then when we finally just said fine - fix it they firstly advised the car now would not be repaired... what a joke!!!

Calls the my Solicitors and Attorney and well they had it fixed...

Finally got the work done.. but never ever again AAMI!!!

Even all the panel shops we went to asked who is it insured with, as soon as they heard aami it was no longer a favorable wish to repair the car or even quote...

When asked about GIO and others, they advise accordingly... Good, bad and indifferent.. all 5 shops had very similar feedback across the list.

I believe if the panel shops are going to do work and be paid by a 3rd party (in this case insurance companies) and know how willing to get the job right and not cut corners to save money - that's how I will pick my insurance company!

that's my logic!

would like to see their response to a modded xrt , bet it would be sorry can't help you

What you mean our06t? Who - AAMI or GIO?

If I had a modded 'BEAST' then I would be going with a broker - simple... wouldn't leave such a car in the hands of any general insurance company... GIO or other... unless there was a long long long list of exceptions...

Howdy all, just had to ring my insurance company to change something on my policy and thought I would ask about the intercooler I am GOING to put on :omg: .

She checked the guide lines and came back to tell me that they would insure me IF I put it on, big stupid considering it all ready has one just a bit smaller.

Anyway told them I was going to look elsewhere.

I noticed a few people have mentioned shannons, what kind of premiums do you guys pay for having a modded car through them as I really need to change from my current insurer to someone who will let me mod the ute.

Cheers

Glen

They still dont want to know us!?! 2yrs min of owning a Turbo before they will insure. Figure that sux a bit cant imagine how the young guys get on cause we are both 30+

Glen, a few of the guys use Shannons, and say they are ok... I personally wouldnt go with Shannons as they are underwritten/owned by AAMI... :hmmm2: However having said that, they are 'meant' to be a 'specialist' insurance division...

If or more to the point WHEN I start to mod the F6, I will be calling a insurance 'broker' - far more personal, and far better to understand what I want and have done... If anything happens they will act on your behalf to help and assist...

Have been speaking to a few more panel shops (people I have met and know) over the past 2 weeks, and they have all given Allianz the thumbs up along with Wesfarmers as two of the better ones... Zurich was also mentioned as one of the better ones, however they no longer insure consumers, only business and fleet etc. (so if its a car used for business they might be able to help out also). :THIS_IS_SPARTA:

AAMI and sister companies were listed and rated as the worst (according to 5 of the panel shops I spoke with) due to being the hardest to work for, with and the tightest when it comes to claims. Ie. cutting the hell out of quotes and even using aftermarket parts (oem) rather then 'genuine' branded parts, amongst other stories they had advised.

My personal experience was extremely appalling on a total loss (not at fault) I had about 8 yrs ago, and again even worse when Da gurlys car was backed into a few months ago (again not at fault)... will never deal with AAMI ever again! (some of the guys here have said they have found them to be good however)...

So personal choice, just my two cents!
