Hi guys, IM interested in getting an XR6 turbo and am amazed that insurance for these cars seems so low, I got a free quote for a $45000 XR6T for a 29yo living in the ACT from the NRMA website, it said under $1000 for comprehensive!

Ive done similar quotes for jap 4WD turbos (WRX, Lancer, GTR) and they are all around $3000+ which is surprising and disappointing.

Can some of you XR6T owners advise how much comprehensive insurance you pay and with whom? thanx

Welcome mate,

Yep insurnace is suprisingly cheap for these cars, l hope it doesnt go the way of the WRX in the lobger term and end up very expensive.

Here is a thread on insurance with heaps of info and peoples experiences with different companies.

This was something I found quite suprising (even though I didn't get the Turbo) When I find that my BA has more power than the Club Spec Evo 5dr Rex, and is less than a quarter of the price to insure I get a smile from ear to ear :funnydance:

Well Trend Setters,

Just got off the phone to my Insurance company to get a quote on a GT.

GT Manual, Premium sound, alarm (drivers over 40) = $830 (couple of 1 point speeders and $350 excess on full NCB).

XR6 Turbo, same extras same driver =$1050, same insurance co, must be the magic word "Turbo", go figure, and the GT is insured for $20,000 more! :oooh:

Why get a quote on a GT you ask?: Simple, theres a HgAg GT-P at my dealers and I'm walking out of the show room with lovers-nuts (have'nt had those since my teens) :D

Bank Manager is throwing money at me, if I was a dyed in the wool pillow biter I'm sure she'd throw in her old man too!

Anyhow......dipping toe in real shallow water here, but......tempted...really tempted B)

G'day,

before I bought my Xr6t, I was running around trying to get the best deal,

Then I spoke to Chris and Ivan from here, and well that's totally changed my view on my insurance costs!

I've ended up with $1090 25, male, Sydney (north) Not too shabby when you hear of some other "quotes"

Funny thing is my previous vehicle was half the total cost, half the engine capacity 40% of the power, and drove through the "wrong" end yet cost 500 bucks a year more! (amazing what the 24 to 25 age change appears to do)

I've always pondered the possiblities of not insuring a car, but then I always come back to the fact that I do

:inlove: my car!

$584 with AAMI with $350 excess. Have to be over 25yrs old and it's not insured if a 25yo or under is driving. You may have to live north of the border as well.

$997 - XR6T, 23 years old, not much more than my old EFII $700 odd. Definately not complaining, XR8 was the same price!
