They make their money by not paying out claims, so what do you think they are going to try to do when you need them most?

spooner Member 84 Member For: 16y 4m 1d Posted 05/09/08 03:57 AM Share Posted 05/09/08 03:57 AM I wouldnt bother mate, it only gets worse, I got my new FG6T ute insured with AAMI for a price so cheap around a G for 45 G, lol, $400 less than my 3 year old BA8 cost me.Why , because the claims on it are NIL at the moment , as its a new car with no history , wait a few years until the prices drop and more people can afford them and crash them , then look out and watch it rise.Just the facts, that's how it all works, have a look at how the prices on BA's dropped so much that youngsters can buy them and crash them , and the premiums going through the roof ,lol. Is what it is , that's how the world works, if you cant afford to buy it and insure it , then you shouldnt have it.Always been that way forever , I had a HG Bathurst Monaro I bought for $3,500 and the Insurance cost me $3000 a year way back then , dont feel like your getting picked on mate, It's how it is and always been , lol
antigravity Member 332 Member For: 18y 1m 27d Gender: Male Location: Sunshine Coast!!!! QLD Posted 05/09/08 06:45 AM Share Posted 05/09/08 06:45 AM Sorry guys, I should have gotten back to you. I've had real trouble insuring anyone under 25 in Turbo's at a decent rate. Most of the insurers I go through, especially the specalist insurers like Lumley Special Vehicles and MB Insurance only insure over 25's. Sometimes over 30's with Turbos. If your under 25, Ive found your best bet is with Just Cars or AAMI. Obviously this differs from person to person, but this is generally the case.If you're over 25, please feel free to get in contact with me. I've been able to organise cheaper insurance for a few people now.

Not necessarily the number of at fault claims per vehicle type. Reason being, because there are a lot of possible causes for an at fault claim (eg weather, time, traffic, 3rd party at fault with no 3rd party details supplied etc..), so insurers generally don't increase premiums because a vehicle has a higher number of claims than the next... Then of course you've got rating factors for location, driver gender, age, experience, claims history that also affect the premium.
