I just rang RACV to ask them what my insurance premuim would increase to when I install the injectors and get it headsexTuned. She asked what headsex was...only joking!

She asked me several questions about the mods and put me on hold for over 15 minutes and then came back to the phone and told me that they would have to cancel the policy if I were to have these mods done. HAH! I paid just over $2,200 with RACV when I bought the car.

I just rang Just Cars and with unlimited mods, it's $1,596! I'm cancelling the RACV policy next week. Fuking rip off merchants! :spoton:

Hey Guys,

Couple of months ago I decided to buy an XR6T, Brand new BF Mk II. After discussion with my father in law, who works for ford he convinced me to wait for the FG so I still havnt bought the turbo yet. I did recently get quotes on insurance for A new BF XR6T though and this is my advice:

I am 21 years old, Rating 2!

Online quotes are cheaper!

RACV didnt want a bar of it. Around $2500 per annum for fully comprehensive, I just laughed.

Just cars is good if you have or want to modify your car, but still 1900 premiuim with a 2000 excess for drivers under 25 is very expensive but no one else will insure with mods.

AAMI were the best for a standand car but 1 tip do it online. Over the phone I am a rating 2 because they ask what month and year I recived my lisence. On the net they only ask for the year so because I got my lisence at the end of 2004 on the phone its counted as 1 month of 2004, online its the whole year giving me the extra rating. Also the premiuim is cheaper online due to people not havng to talk to you over the phone. And last but not least if your under 25 and do the free AAMI driving course you get 10% OFF your premum. (also my parents are insured with them so I think you gain another rating with that).

I was quoted $1740 with 500 excess + 450 for drivers under 25.

1740 - 10% = $1566 per annum

$1500 for a 21 year old with a 245kw car is great value.

On top of all that, online they want the value including stamp duty and dealer delivery.

New the car is 42990 the ONC. I wrote down the car cost $50000 and the quote said the car was insured for $50000. And if you crash it in the first year and its a write off you can either take the money or get the car replaced witha new 1.

hope that helps

ACT cost of registering an XR6T is $763, this includes the compulsory 3rd party insurance.

ive been to the Vic website but cant am puzzled as to what it is down there.

If youre from any other place can u pls advise of your rego fee and compulsory 3rd party fees.

im interested to see how things vary state to state.

So when we find the cheapest state are we all moving there or will it just be the cars new address?

But the beauty of registering in the ACT, is the fact that you dont have to have the car continuously registered. I only register my big cars for 6 months, usually September till March or so. As long as you dont let the rego lapse for more than 12 months you dont have to get them inspected, or pay for the period when the car wasnt being driven.

I dont think you can do this in NSW, if you let it lapse you have to pay for the period when the car was unregistered. I think??????

don't get me started with the RTA! they love their red tape!

The prices I quoted were for registering a new car, so the CTP price may be lower. My CTP cost is around $600!
