Congrats on the purchase Steve....shame it had such a hard life with its first owner though :pics: Agree with the others too; insurance companies will always look for a way out of paying a claim and not mentioning mods is a perfect avenue for them.

& Nillson WTF? What happened dude?

Unfortunately put a bit to much foot and with the condition of the road I was on she just lost traction and just went sliding, and ended up smashing my side door into a wooden telegraph pole and somehow wiping the back out, luckily enough unharmed and no 1 else involved, and now the cars at the repairers atm, with the insurance guys being very helpful :D

got my t the other day, an 04 mkii, insured for $25k under my name and my wife, both over 30 thru AAMI. Got it for $1250 with just a standard $500 excess. Not bad only $150 more than my $10k camry for some odd reason.

Anyways I remember vaguely that AAMI allow upto 3 mods on your car as long as you tell them, is that right? Got a mild exhaust on that I havent told them about but do you reckon a KN filter with typhoon snorkle count?

I worked for them for about 4 yrs.

they will allow a 30+ yr old for performance mods with no effect to the premium.

CORRECTION!!!

They will allow 3 performance mods (not cosmetic) with no effect to the premium.

3+ yr old only.

that's better....

does anyone know roughly how much the price differs between keeping the car on the street, driveway, carport, garage. I would imagine it gets cheapes through this list, but my how much?

going through a similar deal with my BF xr6Tmk2 ute, RAC (WA) quoted $810, insured for $35K, I'm 29. Might pay to give HBF a go.

RACV will insure you and take your money with mods but you arnt actually insured with them becuase they dont allow engine mods even if you tell them about your mods when you take out your policy... go figure!
