I called up Shannons a few days ago, to inform them about my mods. I had them done ages ago but yeah only recently decided to call em.

I told them about the 19's, lowered and my stereo. But the thing is, reading from another post... are they covered or do they just know about it? They didnt ask me how much I paid for anything, so if my wheels get stolen I can just say I paid $3500 for em, and slap on some 20's?? I do have full comp, and it was $27 extra I paid on the day for the extra mods...

I guess I should call them, but just after some opinions....

Cheers Mike

At the time of a claim, you will need to show some sort of evidence I would imagine, be it photographs, receipts etc.

they will replace it with exactly what you had, or the equivalent in value if that model etc is no longer available.

that is how it was explained to me.

I guess it had to happen eventually.

GIO have refused to renew my insurance cover this month on my F6 auto because of mods.

I have had continuous insurance cover with GIO for almost 20 years, and always listed my mods, and never had them questioned.

My first accident in 20 years happened last year!

I have paid far more in premiums than claims made.

They suggest I may be eligible for their Custom Car Insurance.

I have 5 cars, all insured with GIO, plus insurance of several houses, plus car lease…. around $25k pa in payments.

We’ll see what happens.

If it doesn’t work out I’ll move all my business elsewhere.

Does anyone have any experience with GIO Custom Car Insurance?

Brian

give shannons a call tell them your story I'm sure overall on a package for cars and houses you would come out in front

Spot on... I called Shannons not long after my post, and the chick I spoke to went into more detail about what I had.... When I first called them the guy didnt ask specifics, but the chick I spoke to asked for brands, sizes etc... I also asked what would happen if anything was stolen and she said that they 'now' have a good description, and that I would probably have pictures of the wheels for example for them to identify...

Hey people, this is aimed at the under 25's in this forum. I'm looking at purchasing an xr6 turbo ute this year and I'm just curious to find out which insurance companies are the best for me. I suppose it doesnt help that ive lost my licence before :tonguepoke: so if there is any1 out there that is in my situation and can give me some advice on how I should go about choosing the right policy or whether it would make a difference if the car was under my dads name, any advice really would be a help, please reply
