old rev head Member 17 Member For: 14y 9m 5d Posted 17/02/10 12:40 AM Share Posted 17/02/10 12:40 AM FG XR6T 08 model agreed value of $40k only Just car would insure me since im 21. Comprehensive insurance = $2232 but excess of $3000 $1700 max excess + $800 vehicle excess + $500 age excess... NRMA wanted $9000 for full comp and AAMI wanted $8000 LOL. This is for sydney south suburbs. With just car when I asked about mods eg how much would a set of rims of $2000 would affect the premium. They keep brushing me away and said when you get it done call up because the price changes from day to day. WTF? So I cant even prepare how much an increase would be because once I get it done then they can charge crazy $$$ and I cant say I wont pay it because that will void the insurance. Sly... Can anyone from experience with justcar tell me how much say 1) rims $2000 2)injectors + tune $2000 - $2500 3)exhaust $2500 will affect the premium? Note: each scenario separately as I wont be getting them the same time. Cheers As far as the tune and exhaust go, you should not tell them aif you have an accident they will state you have changed the cars specification from the factory settings and will probably go down the line of unroadworthyness. Unfortunately it's not a brand new car, so no paper work. The receipt I received from the previous owner does not state any of the extras. I ended up calling them myself and they agreed to insure for 25k. Wasn't entirely happy, but it was the best they would do. They only wanted receipts when my dad told them leather was 10k from Ford, and sat nav was $2100. I guess they didn't believe him lol. Not sure what other insurer to go with...not many companies seem to wanna insure if you mod it (although I don't plan to do much). I'm also under 25, so went with AAMI under my dad's name as it worked out cheaper (plus my parents have both their cars under AAMI, and my previous car which I still own is also with AAMI so I figured if I put this one with them as well they'd give me a better deal). I initially asked Just Car but they are just a plain rip-off and not sure why I even bothered. They insure based on the youngest person driving the car (that would be me), and given that I am under 25 they wanted to royally screw me in the a$$ with premium and excess (also, living in a suburb which has a high rate of theft doesn't help!). Got a foot in the door when I was 16 with a 65 impala.. Been with them ever since. On the turbo ute I pay $880/year with a $500 excess and $300 age excess. Exactly the same for the El Camino. XR is insured for 23,000 agreed value with the mods and the elk is $17,500 agreed value. Going through a claim with them atm, some wench decided to take out the front end of my chev. So far so good...
Guest Al@n Guests Posted 15/03/10 04:25 AM Share Posted 15/03/10 04:25 AM Hi all, step daughters boyfriend has just written his car off in the rain. Police report stated that one of his tyres was not roadworthy. Will this void his insurance? Any advice would be appreciated, cheers

They are as followsALARM BABY SEAT BLUETOOTH BONNET PROTECTOR BULL BAR ELECTRIC MIRRORS FLOOR MATS HEADLIGHT PROTECTORS IPOD PLAYER CAR KIT (EXCLUDES IPOD) LEATHER PACK LEATHER TRIM METALLIC/PEARL PAINT (MANUFACTURER) MUD FLAPS NUDGE BAR PAINT (MANUFACTURER SPECIALISED) PAINT PROTECTION PARKING SENSORS REAR AND FORWARD PERSONALISED NUMBER PLATES REVERSING CAMERA REVERSING SENSORS ROOF RACKS RUST PROOFING SATELLITE NAVIGATION SYSTEM SIDE STEPS SNORKEL(4WD) SUNROOF TINTED WINDOWS TOW BAR TRAY WINDSHIELDS OTHER I found them real good. RAC WA wants $141 a month with a $350 excess and a $300 age excess (I am 25), AAMI is $93 a month with a $400 excess. Also just because your car has leather seating doesnt mean it is worth $10000 more, or should be insured for $10000 more. Either have it insured for market value or for what you paid for it.thanks for the info mate I just got a quote from AAMI and I will be saving over $400.00. I was with NRMA before...
