Funnily enough I called aami today to insure a stock F6 typhoon with 1 minor accident in the last 3 yrs and they wanted $8000 from me a year! LOLs Even with highest excess it was $5000 wtf!! Just car is about $3000 from online quote will try shannons 2moro. What else is good people?! Thanksss ps in sydneyI am 21 and I called Just Car about 30 mins ago to get a quote. I have a 330rwkw T Ute and mentioned all my engine mods and rims ect. They quoted me 1250 premium with an 1800 excess.going from what I've read the location of the vehicle seems to play a decent sized role in the $$ Edited 07/01/10 01:00 AM by Mitch

Gloo Member 403 Member For: 16y 6m 9d Gender: Male Location: Northern South Australia Posted 07/02/10 06:15 AM Share Posted 07/02/10 06:15 AM I used just cars for 1 year. 1800 for a 18yo with a 2004 ba xr6t with all my factory spec included like sunroof sound suspention and what not, 2 loss of licences but no claims. Excess was near on 3g!!!! I then bought a house and decided to insure that with sgic, also got health and put my car over as well. Car went down to 1000pa with 600 maximum excess with a fixed value of 24k on the car with all the specs and history. My new insurence is 1800 for a 2010 xr6t ute with lux pack. Fixed value of 45k.So far so good. Love the service.Thumbs down for just cars for ripping people off and having to pay full prem at once instead of installments, and shannons because they were d***s on the phone, and wouldnt insure me at all. Bo0st3D XR6 Member 57 Member For: 14y 9m 12d Gender: Male Posted 07/02/10 08:35 AM Share Posted 07/02/10 08:35 AM FG XR6T 08 model agreed value of $40k only Just car would insure me since im 21. Comprehensive insurance = $2232 but excess of $3000 $1700 max excess + $800 vehicle excess + $500 age excess... NRMA wanted $9000 for full comp and AAMI wanted $8000 LOL. This is for sydney south suburbs. With just car when I asked about mods eg how much would a set of rims of $2000 would affect the premium. They keep brushing me away and said when you get it done call up because the price changes from day to day. WTF? So I cant even prepare how much an increase would be because once I get it done then they can charge crazy $$$ and I cant say I wont pay it because that will void the insurance. Sly... Can anyone from experience with justcar tell me how much say 1) rims $2000 2)injectors + tune $2000 - $2500 3)exhaust $2500 will affect the premium? Note: each scenario separately as I wont be getting them the same time. Cheers

So it doesnt affect your premium so long as your fixed price is enough to cover all your goodies and the road accident guys dont say your car was unroadworthy upon accident.I think just cars are ripp offs. Not a big fan.
Bo0st3D XR6 Member 57 Member For: 14y 9m 12d Gender: Male Posted 08/02/10 01:51 PM Share Posted 08/02/10 01:51 PM I agree with you Gloo but unfortunately if you're a driver under 25 in sydney quite frankly very few companies will insure you. In my case only justcar would so I didnt really have much of a choice. All other insurance I called up wanted the driver to be 25 and over even if its as a listed driver. In the meantime ill just enjoy the car then every year ill curse justcar for taking thousands from me!
Gloo Member 403 Member For: 16y 6m 9d Gender: Male Location: Northern South Australia Posted 09/02/10 06:27 AM Share Posted 09/02/10 06:27 AM that's a real bummer mate. Im only 20 and sgic seem to work for me, but im starting to think this is probably because I have about 400k worth of cover going though them. Im hopinh they looked at that and have taken kindly to me, but im still thinking I better ring up and make sure my cover is correct, dont wana crash and them say, oh but you said it was just a xr6, not a turbo... I had a cover note with AAMI and did not pay the insurance yet as I was told to get quotes from Ford for the factory options on my car (leather, premium sound & sat nav), as they were only insuring it for 23500 (BF Turbo) and wouldn't insure for an agreed value and told me they could factor in the options into the policy but I would need to get quotes from Ford. I spoke to Ford dealership who then told me to speak to Ford factory, so my dad rang Ford factory today for me today and they told him to speak to dealership...lol...so he calls the dealership to get quotes, and they told him 10k for leather (WTF?) so he rings up AAMI and gives them the quotes for everything, they say no worries, we can insure for 36k but when it comes time to pay you out, you need to provide receipts for these things. My dad was like wtf? they are factory options, the car came with them, how the hell are you supposed to provide a receipt for that! The woman on the phone just said badluck...if you wanna get paid out you need to provide receipts and that's that. So he pretty much told em where to go and cancelled the policy. I'm freaking out now coz I got no insurance and no garage to lock up the car (sits in a car port).Has anyone else had any problems trying to insure a car for an agreed value with AAMI, or had any trouble trying to get insurance for a car with factory options? I mean how the hell am I supposed to provide receipts...it's not like they are aftermarket items. This is ridiculous.
winstor Member 611 Member For: 15y 8m 17d Posted 16/02/10 12:35 PM Share Posted 16/02/10 12:35 PM Do it online with AAMI, you can select your cars extras. They are as followsALARM BABY SEAT BLUETOOTH BONNET PROTECTOR BULL BAR ELECTRIC MIRRORS FLOOR MATS HEADLIGHT PROTECTORS IPOD PLAYER CAR KIT (EXCLUDES IPOD) LEATHER PACK LEATHER TRIM METALLIC/PEARL PAINT (MANUFACTURER) MUD FLAPS NUDGE BAR PAINT (MANUFACTURER SPECIALISED) PAINT PROTECTION PARKING SENSORS REAR AND FORWARD PERSONALISED NUMBER PLATES REVERSING CAMERA REVERSING SENSORS ROOF RACKS RUST PROOFING SATELLITE NAVIGATION SYSTEM SIDE STEPS SNORKEL(4WD) SUNROOF TINTED WINDOWS TOW BAR TRAY WINDSHIELDS OTHER I found them real good. RAC WA wants $141 a month with a $350 excess and a $300 age excess (I am 25), AAMI is $93 a month with a $400 excess. Also just because your car has leather seating doesnt mean it is worth $10000 more, or should be insured for $10000 more. Either have it insured for market value or for what you paid for it.

This is ridiculous.Don't get sucked in by silly statements from insurance companys, if your paper work states that your turbo has leather seats colour screen etc then they are obliged to replace or pay out on a write off, all that talk of receipts is nothing but bluff. my suggestion is try a better insurer, there are heaps of insurers out there just let them know you are shopping around it's amazing what some will do to get your business
