Mine's insured for business at $1,100 per year, renewal coming up soon. that figure I get with an affiliate staff discount with Suncorp.

I've been quoted $1850 from Just Car Insurance

Being 22 I gave up ringing around after their quote. CGU wanted $2800 + excess etc and the others wouldnt even look at me. :(

That's insured for $46,200 payout with age excess of $300 - total of $1100 excess.

Which is ok with me - I can see where they're coming from with me only being 22. She gets here in feb 2 btw :thumbsup:

PhantumUte - You have the same car, your 2 years older and the cost is half what I pay. I have only had 1 parking incident in the 6 years I have been driving but I still have 65% NCB through NRMA. How does 2 years make such a difference! Not happy Jan

Got my insurance renewal in the mail today $733.00. I also have an agreed value of $44900, which im very happy with as I only paid $47100 12months ago. The only options I have are Leather and tinted windows. The GT bonnet will be added to list of options when I get car back. The Xede is know about by the insurance company but does has not increased the value of cover. :censored:

I think that $44900 is great after 1 year.

You know... this thread reminds me of my own mentality of recent: that the cheaper you can get the premium, the better. I almost fell into this trap a few weeks ago when insuring my new XR6T.

Let's face it: we are driving a (potentially) very fast and very desirable car and therefore there is a better than average chance that it could be stolen or crashed. So the higher premiums are the price you pay. BUT... has anyone here actually looked past the price of the premium? What about the policy - inclusions and limitations??

I almost went with AAMI because of their "70% NCB for life". So with this 70% NCB I was offered a $980 premium (Syd metro, 40 yrs old, never any at-fault claims).

However - AAMI's 70% NCB for life is a crock. Try reading the fine-print. It says that if you make more than 2 at-fault claims (this includes anything like malicious damage - anything where you cannot identify a guilty party) - in a rolling 12 month period, then AAMI will CANCEL your insurance. So - your NCB for life is now gone.

Think of the scenario... you have a minor at-fault someday and then, say a few months later, your doors get keyed. Strike two. Then your next at-fault that takes your car off the road, and AAMI go and cancel the insurance on you. You manage to get it fixed and then any other insurance company you try will now load up your insurance because you've had a previous policy cancelled.

Ho hum.

So... I ended up going with GIO - $10/month more (and I can pay by the month with GIO - not with AAMI) at around $1100 AND this is how it compared for me:

- $1100 for agreed value

- Pay by the month (pay yearly with AAMI)

- Protected NCB for life (not with AAMI).

- New for old replacement vehicle in first TWO years (!!) (only first year or not at all with every other insurer I spoke with)

- GIO will NEVER cancel my insurance no matter how many at fault claims I make.

- GIO told me that in some cases where I could not identify a guilty party (like shopping trolley damage in a car park) they "may" not class it as an at-fault. AAMI said 'too bad matey'.

- Choice of repairer, genuine parts, repairs guaranteed for life (some insurance companies skimp here - be warned).

One other thing that I decided to do. I found the best couple of panel shops in my area - the ones that everyone agrees are the best from asking around, and went in to see them.

I decided that if I needed a repair to panel damage, there was a better than average chance that I'd be able to take it to someone of my choice in my area.

So in asking these panel shops about the insurance companies *they* prefer to deal with, I was able to rule out two from my list (NRMA was one of them believe it or not).

It makes sense when you think about it. You don't want to wait longer for your car because the repairer that YOU want to use is getting the run around from an insurance company.

And NO I have no affiliation with insurance companies. In fact I have in the past had little respect for most of them having heard some pretty bad stories of people getting shafted on claims.

I'm just trying to point out that there is more to it than the cost of the premium.
