Thanx smicko, was looking at AAMI, going to give them a ring and find out about a quote. After talking briefly with them today, they had no worries about the ute being modded. So will se what the quote is and go from there.

Looks to me like it seems to be if you own a turbo and live in sydney then you have pretty much no chance of getting a reasonable quote. I am 25 the mrs is 24 and I tried 4 different ins. companies and didn't get a single quote that was over 700 a year. All I can say is thank god I live in Brisbane!!!

Just about to take out a policy with AAMI & they're that much cheaper than everyone else it isn't funny.

$1,513 for full comprehensive cover including hire car & windscreen for a BF II FPV Typhoon to an 18 year old, been driving for two years - $46,000 agreed value on the car. I chose the highest excess of $1,950 but even that was lower than Just Car's excess whose premiums were just shy of $3k – and Just Car was the 2nd cheapest quote I got

I hope "you get what you pay for" doesn’t kill me here but most people seem happy with AAMI so I'm convinced :roflmbo:

Holly sh*t your excess is high. I only have $300 excess. and the most I have ever had for excess was $1100 when I was 19.

I'm 27, perfect driving history, living in a 'not so great' suburb of Melbourne (not the worst, but certainly not the best). I'm with ING Insurance and paying $1,351 for a brand new G6ET. Windscreen coverage, rating one protection, etc. Standard excess of $500 I think, not covered for anyone under 25 of course.

Haven't had to claim (touch wood) but no complaints with the premium for starters!
