And when you told the insurance, how did you phrase the mod ? ie Added Chip to vehicle, power boost chip.... ?How's the fuel consumption with the chip.... better/worse ?I'd also be looking at improving the air intake, either an XR8 kit with K&N or an APS intercooler. Any thoughts ?Daniel

Any thoughts ?Daniel Centre muffler removalHomemade 2nd coldair intakeThese are my other mods. They are complete walk throughs of both. I told AAMI that I was installing a tuning chip, which is what they are. Since the chip my fuel consumtion has dropped from 17.3L/100km to 16.8L/100km. If you have any more questions give me a ring (0417892479) I'll be glad to help if I can.Hope this helps. Geea.

The phase 2 includesa large intercooler, upgraded injectors and large exhaust. He suggested that I do nothing with the air flow other than maybe a K&N filter or the like. He said that having too much air flow will starve yourengine as it will require more fuel, therefore requiring the phase 2 upgrade.Daniel

I think with the standard XR6T airbox and filter that it is a bit resricted and actually a bit short of air. If you do a 2nd air intake or get the XR8 intake combined with the BMC/k&n filter I think it would help. I'm no expert but after reading most of the posts here about airflow and airboxes, that is how it sounds to me. Geea.

These intercoolers are just masive and draw too muchair for the phase 1. A slight mod to to increase air/flow should be ok though.
Guest Scootre Guests Posted 10/12/03 07:47 AM Share Posted 10/12/03 07:47 AM Yesterday I went to GIO in Sydney and had my policy amended to include 19" wheels, sports exhaust, Nizpro Stage 3 kit and lowered springs. I have a printed Certificate of Insurance to verify it...... no extra charge.I have always found GIO to be far more tolerant than Hi BrianLike you rself, I have a good history with GIO here in Sydney - with no at faults, full NCB and other policies with them.My T arrives in a week (hey, 7 more sleeps!). I called GIO for a quote and was told it would cost a bit over a grand and $450 basic excess + $400 "punitive excess" (great choive of words, GIO...that'll sell more insurance). I'm 40 as is my missus so no age excess here. They told me they were not negotiable on this. Naturally, they've lost my business.AAMI have come in with the 70% NCB for life and $970 or something per annum - with a $450 excess. Mind you, it's max NCB for life until you have more than 2 claims within a 12 month period - then they cancel your insurance.Anyway... I'm very disappointed because GIO have otherwise been very good to us.
Guest cul08r Guests Posted 10/12/03 11:47 PM Share Posted 10/12/03 11:47 PM That deal sounds great BCL. I covered my T for 47k, incl 19s and lowered to RTA specs, with Mr T's carseat included. Cost $818 on the central coast. That's a great idea to ask for a printout of modified details. I made the mistake with AAMI about 4 yrs ago of not seeing a modded policy, and they tried to scam me when my wife hit debris on the freeway. Lucky the dude who had inspected my car came clean and they covered the lot.Andrew
