after this post I went and did a online quote with Just Cars, mind you im with AAMI now... they gave me rating 1 and even after listing all my mods the insurance was $500 cheaper than with AAMI...

what the?

ill be making a few phone calls tomorrow.... :spoton:

Try doing a new quote with AAMI, did that a few times while I was in the "danger age" bracket and saved hundreds. If it comes out less just save the quote and call them to sort it out.

Also with Just Cars being underwritten/owned by AAMI so I couldn't imagine them being cheaper :spoton:

AAMI underwrites Just Car as insurer. Used to work for AAMI many moons ago.

We all must realise that many of these domestic insurers are not geared for this type of risk. Which is why in some cases the specialty guys will give us a better deal.

If you anyone runs there vehicle for commercial purposes, let me know. Im insurance broker now and will be able to give you a good deal....

Ive got 3 of my cars insured with Shanons, ive never had insurance b4 up until a year ago when I bought my ute. At the time I spoke to them, I wanted it insured for $29k (the amount I paid for it).

I believed that was an agreed value and would stay at $29k. My Mini is insured in the same way for $25k.

I just received my insurance renewal notice and my ute is now insured for $25k, a drop of $4k.

I called Shanons to advise of the error, but they said that cars depreciate so the value drops. My Mini has stayed at $25k cause its a classic?

I was under the impression that agreed value was a price I put on it and the yearly premium reflected that figure?

Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on this? I thought it should stay at $29k??

I understand it would depreciate, but I think your premium should go down with it. There pricks but we still need em unfortunately.

I'm quite sure you can nominate your agreed value, but pay a larger premium as a result. Might be insurer-specific though.

I had the same thing last year my car was insured for 25, so I asked them if I could get a agreed value for 29, they said "you can, but you need to pay more for that".

So I did, then I get my insurance again this year and its droped to 21, I rang them and said WTF is going on I paid extra for a agreed value to be at 29, now its 21. Then they pulled oh it gos off market valve you can pay extra to bump it up if you like.

scaming barstads...
