Just letting everyone know.....

I have been with RACV for 7 years fully comp & no claims or driver idiocy, again this year RACV increased my insurance!!!!

I rang HBA who are apparently trying to market themselves to Australian built cars only & were $200 dollars cheaper!!!!

Thanks for the heads up Tuf.

do you have house and contents also?

as I have both car, house and contents with RACV, my premium - rating one, mult policy discount and years of insurance discount taken into account is $695 PA.

Im going to be pulling all of my policies from them if they try it on me at renewal, ive seen it happen in the past, first year with new car, they cut you a good deal, only to up your premium every following year, whilst your insured amount drops with depreciation...

they must think people are stupid.

Forget RACV!!

My car from new was insured with them. After 4 months added CAI and K&N filter. Rang to disclose mods only to be told that according to their policy they enhance performance in forced induction cars and they will not be able to offer cover under those conditions. Tried supervisor level and same story. Re-insured with AAMI and no problems, mods listed on policy. They were more concerned about visually obvious external modifications. If it's legal they'll insure.

I have two car insurances & house insurance with RACV all of which have been with RACV for a few years now.

I have private health insurance with HBA so they gave me a 10% discount on my car insurance.

Also I forgot to add that paying for the insurance by the month with HBA was even cheaper than paying up front (I'm personally still going to go with paying up front).

I used a broker over in perth (I think) who deals with CGU.

I'm 22, live in Melbourne, self employed and have my ute down for business use.

I paid a little over $1200 p/a

Compare that to my old policy with CGU directly (no broker) of $2400 odd

I say, find yourself a broker n save! :buttrock:

G'day guys,

Now I'm sure this has been covered in the past (had a quick search couldn't find anything) but I'm wanting to know if you should tell your Insurance company about having your car flashed/custom tumed?

My Insurance company (NRMA) knows already that I have mod's done to my car eg: I/C, CAI, Exhaust and Lowered, no problems so far! But now I'm just worried that since I have had a custom tune in the car, that if I may be involved in a accident I may not be covered? :spoton:

What is everyone else doing? or is this something they just wont check?

Thanks of the info in advance.

Derek

if all else fails mate give just car a call.

They have a 'we dont care what youve done... as long as its legal and you tell us' policy.

They even upped my agreed value recently when I rang them to tell them about more mods.

What he said. Check the fine print. If it isn't on your policy = your not covered. :bangcomputer:

NRMA = NO MODS

hence I switched to AAMI when I got my T. Saved thousands in premiums to boot :spoton:
